Iris App for iPad review: a fun way to browse Instagram on your iPad

Instagram may not have a native app available on the iPad, but Iris App is here to fill that void. You may not be able to upload photos to the popular photo sharing service, but Iris App does allow you to browse your feed, featured photos, "like" and comment photos, and more.

The first new Apple TV reviews are in - solid value, but not a big upgrade

First new iPad reviews

The first reviews of the new iPad are in, and as expected they focus on the areas that are visually and experientially different from last year's iPad 2. The consensus is that the Retina display is blow-you-eyeballs-back-through-your-skull impressive, and the responsiveness and LTE networking amazingly fast.

iPhone 4S review

iPhone 4S is minor spec bump over last year's iPhone 4. Except it's not. It's a full on assault of the senses, with eyes, ears, and feel far beyond any previous mobile device. Yes, the hardware bumps specs to be certain -- faster chipset, better camera -- but it's what Apple's iOS 5 software and iCloud services do with that hardware that makes iPhone 4S so compelling, including one feature in particular that makes it the biggest leap forward in mainstream computer interfaces since multitouch on the original iPhone -- Siri.

PSA: Don't leave bad app reviews based on iOS 5

We go through this every year, so apologies for not posting it sooner, but once again we'd like to remind everyone not to leave bad app reviews based on crashes or other "bugs" under iOS 5. Why?

Because iOS 5 is in beta. You're not supposed to be using it for anything other than testing your apps. Developers can't even upload iOS 5-compatible binaries to Apple right now, so there's nothing they can do about it, nor is there anything they should have to do about it.
