What you need to know

  • Apple Stores will only stock the green, pink, blue, and silver colors of the new iMac.
  • Purple, orange, and yellow will only be available to order on the Apple Store website and the Apple Store app.

If you've been wondering which color iMacs will be available in your local Apple Store, Apple just confirmed it.

In a press release where Apple reminded customers that tomorrow kicks off preorders for the new iMac, iPad Pro, and Apple TV 4K, it also revealed exactly what color iMacs you can expect at the Apple Store.

The company says that it will stock configurations of the green, pink, blue, and silver colors of the new iMac in Apple Stores globally. The yellow, orange, and purple colors will only be available to order on the Apple Store website and the Apple Store app.

Featuring a stunning design in a spectrum of vibrant colors, the breakthrough M1 chip, and a brilliant 4.5K Retina display, the new iMac is much more compact and fits easily in even more places, transforming any space into anything users need it to be. iMac configurations in green, pink, blue, and silver will be available to purchase directly at apple.com and Apple Store locations, and all seven colors will be available at apple.com.

While this does mean you will be able to theoretically purchase one of those four colors from your local Apple Store, it's still unclear what colors will be on display in the stores as well. Each Apple Store is different, so Apple could theoretically display all seven colors in certain locations if it wanted to. It could also mean that, even if all four colors are available to purchase in the store, you may not be able to see all of them displayed on the floor.

We'll have to wait until the iMac officially launches in the second half of May to see exactly how things shake out at the Apple Store.
