Here's how much it'll cost for an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus

So, the big question; how much for an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus? If you're in the US, we've got an answer! The iPhone 6 will run for $199, $299 and $399 on contract for 16GB, 64GB and 128GB versions respectively. The iPhone 6 Plus will add another $100 to each of those prices, so if you want a 128GB iPhone 6 Plus you're going to be handing over a pretty hefty $499, on contract.

Off-contract prices for the iPhone 6 will start at $649 for the 16 GB version, go up to $749 for the 64 GB version and ends at $849 for the 128 GB model. For the iPhone 6 Plus, off-contract prices begin at $749 for the 16 GB version, go up to $849 for the 64 GB and end at $949 for the 128 GB version.

It makes the price jump per additional GB of storage the same as previous iPhones but with more for that money. Finally we're seeing a 128GB iPhone as some of you guys have been screaming for and as we'd have expected all along it's going to cost a few bucks to get one.

Additionally the 16GB iPhone 5s drops down to $99 on contract and the 8GB iPhone 5c is now the free on contract option.

Pre-orders go live on September 12 and the new phones will be on sale on September 19 in the U.S., UK, France, Canada, Germany, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan.

  • I'm not sure if you're confused on what off contract is or if you simply just missed the information given about it, so I'll explain both…
Off-contract basically means that you don't have a 2 year contract with you phone company, causing you to have to purchase a new phone at full price whenever desired.
Having a 2 year contract is more beneficial because once the two years of having one phone is up, you get an upgrade at a pretty good discount. For example, if you got an iPhone 4 in September of 2012, you are now eligible for an upgrade. Some upgrades are more than others based on the quality of the phone.
As of now, if you wanted to get an iPhone 5c, you can for $0.99, whereas an iPhone 5s would be $99.99 to upgrade to. It all just depends on the quality and how innovative the phone is. If you don't have the 2 year contract, you don't get a discount and you have to pay full price…so personally, I suggest getting a 2 year contract. If you were just confused and missed the given information, in the description it says, "Off-contract prices for the iPhone 6 will start at $649 for the 16 GB version, go up to $749 for the 64 GB version and ends at $849 for the 128 GB model. For the iPhone 6 Plus, off-contract prices begin at $749 for the 16 GB version, go up to $849 for the 64 GB and end at $949 for the 128 GB version." Hope that helped clear things up!
  • Deleted. Didn't read things right.
  • Is that pre-order date for all retailers... or is that just the day you can pre-order from Apple Stores and apple.com?
  • Is there even a 16GB 6 Plus? I didn't catch that in the presentation. Sent from the iMore App

  • Gotta give Apple credit for having a 128GB model. Android manufactures need to step up the pace and give this option.
  • they already do...its called an SD card Slot that can hold up to an additional 128GB. Don't ditch other products without knowledge.
  • You mean the SD slot that Google has been steering us away from using for the last two years?
  • The card slot that Google doesn't like anymore? The card slot that my Nexus doesn't have? You speak of that mythical card slot? Posted via the iMore App for Android
  • Dying to know what they'll be unlocked and how long the wait to get one unlocked is going to be.
  • 5.5'' gray 64 gig for me toooo. Finally a big screen. :)
  • Yes 5.5 looks great too, 4.7 is small for my taste also less featured too. will wait for unlock off-contract version. likes big screen of HTC Desire 816, even though my daily driver is M8, first time switching to iPhone.(when it will come out)

  • I'm definitely going 64 but why the heck didn't they start with 32GB? It's time for the 16GB go away... To emerging markets.
  • It's time for Apple to make their free iPhones 16gb and not 8gb. Come on Apple, it is 2014. Posted via the Android iMore App!
  • Is the contract- free iphone unlocked?? In the store of the iPhone 5s clearly states that is "contract-free and unlocked" but in the iphone 6 store only says "contract-free" but not unlocked. I'm from México, so an unlocked iphone is essential for me. Just for the record and before anyone tell me, I have serach in Google a lot, and some sites refer to it as unlocked, but nothing official. I do not want to spend $1000+ in a locked iphone for mistake. Hope somebody can help me. I'm interested in the iphone 6 plus 128 Gb.

Come on apple just make one awesome product that everyone just wants and that is so great that no one will ever wonder if it's worth it. Sent from the iMore App
  • Well, I want to get a 6 plus 64Gb. I already have a 5S on on contract with Verizon, and it isn't clear how I can order. I would prefer to order with Apple-online as I am in California and can order at 12:01am Fri (Thursday Night, essentially). What Apple doesn't make clear is if I order it online, I can actually order it even though I have a phone on contract. I don't mind paying the $849. (plus tax, etc.), but it isn't clear at the Apple site whether that gives me a new contract, or just continues the countdown on my old contract. I'd like to just let my old contract run out as I totally dislike contracts, but Verizon is the only carrier that works decently where I live. Does anyone have any clarity on this? Thanks. J.
  • iPhone 6 - 16 GB is more than enough for me but so is iPhone 6+ 128 GB.
  • if i were to get it i will just go for iphone 6 64GB, i have iphone 5 and blackberry z10 and i do think 6plus will be too big for me
