iTunes Store, App Store, and Apple Music hit with service outage [Update: back up]

Update: Apple's System Status page is now reporting that the outage is over, and all affected services are back online. The outage is said to have lasted from about a little before 10:00 a.m. EDT until just after 1:00 p.m. EDT.

Original story: Apple is acknowledging a widespread service disruption to the iTunes Store, App Store, and Apple Music. The store outage affects Beats 1, iTunes in the Cloud, iTunes Match, and iTunes U, in addition to standard browsing and purchasing. Apple notes that the outage is affecting only some users, not all users.

From Apple:

All Store Services - Some users are affectedUsers are experiencing a problem with the services listed above. We are investigating and will update the status as more information becomes available.

This outage comes at a bad time for Apple, as the company has been broadcasting the announcement of the nominees for MTV's Video Music Awards live on Beats 1. You can follow Apple's progress in dealing with the issue at the link below, and we'll keep you updated as conditions change.
