Twitter replaces favorites with likes, changes icon from star to heart

Twitter has changed the way things work, switching from favorites to likes and changing the shape from a star to a heart. The company states that a heart is a more universal symbol, one that is recognized and resonates across various languages, cultures and time zones. Twitter has been embracing hearts on Periscope since it launched, and now the company is bringing them to Twitter and Vine.

The heart, in contrast, is a universal symbol that resonates across languages, cultures, and time zones. The heart is more expressive, enabling you to convey a range of emotions and easily connect with people. And in our tests, we found that people loved it.

The switch from stars to hearts will be made shortly across Twitters Android and iOS app, as well as on its website, TweetDeck and Twitter for Windows 10.
