Capcom Announces Street Fighter IV for iPhone!
Capcom has just announced Street Fighter IV for iPhone, and it should be coming to the iPhone this March! IGN has the details:
Capcom is not accepting any loss of the console game's beloved art direction in the iPhone edition. It has taken assets straight from the current-gen code, so the new art style that won universal accolades is faithfully recreated on the iPhone's smaller, but crisp screen. In our shots of Ken and Ryu battling it out, you can see the fidelity to the console version at play. These are the same models, just slightly scaled down – but with minimal loss of detail or color.
My childhood reborn. I want. Let us know what you think!
[Thanks Ben for the tip!]

First post! WOOT!
Awesome, so many great franchises have been announced for the iPhone in the past few months, we can just add this to the list. Can't wait to get my hands on it.
This game will totally suck on the iPhone. Dont get me wrong, I love SF games,,,however, those familiar with SF series will agree with me that a physical contoller(preferebly a fight stick) is a MUST to enjoy any SF game.
How do you know that if you've never played it without physical buttons? Wait to judge.
Ben,, I know that cause, I have tried Street Fighter on DS and that one allowed you to either to the touch screen or the actuall controller, and it still sucked. I guess you have to be into SF games to really understand what I mean,,, but by all means, go ahead and buy it,, Any dime to support a fantastic company like Capcom, is always a plus !
Looks good but you can't do a fighting game with touch controls:(
Ben : That's how ALL real fighting game fans play. Playing with a gamepad is low enough for them. Playing on a tiny screen is even worse. And only having one kick and one punch button pretty much removes any sense of SF combos.
I want to see other games like bionic commando, contra and metroid as well. I have mega man 2 now and it rocks. Love me some child hood games
Well then I guess it's good that this isn't meant for traditional SF players. Capcom is obviously trying to go after a new market with this move and I think they have a lot of potential to succeed. It looks fine to me and I have no problems with using touch controls to perform actions. Also, Capcom said the controls will be customizable so what you see in the screen shots isn't the only control layout, there's probably an option for more punch and kick buttons I'm sure. Beauty of having games on a touch screen, the UI can be changed and isn't fixed into place.
@ArtVandelay : The DS' touch screen isn't capacitive, isn't multitouch, and isn't as powerful as the iPhone.
When will there be POKEMON on my frakken iPhone!?!
Never, since it's a first-party IP owned by Nintendo. Unless Nintendo gets out of the hardware making business, Pokemon will never officially come to iPhone.
@Ben, I know DS is way different than iPhone, but the fact that there isnt an actual button to punch and like MintOreo mentioned, limitation from SF style combo, will result in this game being nothing but mediocer
No matter what capcom said about the controls, we all know its not gonna add a fight stick to it
)
It DOES look great,, but eyecandy isnt as important as controls when it comes to fighting games ,,, To each and their own,,,
All I can say as a hardcore SF fan is that without physical controls and the usual mix of punches and kicks then it won't give a true experience of SF. But saying that I'm all for Capcom making a few extra pennies from what seems like a simpler fighting method and new audience.
It looks good I just hope that it feels like a true SF game. I am still hoping that Capcom will bring out Resident Evil 1 for the Iphone I think that game will do well with a not having a physical controls.
If it's 6.99$ it's auto purchase for me. Anything more I'll have to wait and see the reviews
It will be horrid, nuff said.
Seriously though, if you ever played street fighter back in the arcade days you wouldn't even touch this game without a joystick.
Such a classic game... makes you miss your original Nintendo game console...

Hi are you here want do upp ?
Sho' ryu Ken!!!!!!
When I covered this over at X-ism, I couldn't even get exited about this. As much as I like Street Fighter, I can't, for the life of me, understand why they would put so much effort into an iPhone version of the game while Wii, DS and PSP fans are left in the cold. The game might be impressive in what they can pull off as far as getting the game squeezed onto the small iPhone platform but who really wants to play that crap?
when u saw the screen shots i could not believe how close it looked in sfiv on my ps3. This is a game I would def. Get for my iPhone.
Look I'm 33 years old and been playing streetfighter since it came out.if your any good you will adapt to the touchscreen.when I played blades of fury on my iPod I really thought I would hate it.I was just like you, saying I need physical buttons.now I kick butt and I like it.your skills will shine through
I hope it's multiplayer.
Yeah, a touchscreen is useless for twitch fighter games like SF IV
Unhappy for the reexamine, but I'm real affectioned the new Zune, and prospect this, as considerably as the reviews many different people mortal statute, will aid you if it's the proper deciding for you.
