White iPhone 4 delays caused by light leak?
The Street is claiming that the reason Apple has delayed the white iPhone 4 until "later this year" is due to light leaking around the edges of the glass. This according to the ever popular "person familiar with", in this case the manufacturing process.
As the source described it, if it were a metal or plastic material, a simple coating would fill in the gaps and block the internal light. Glass is an entirely different issue.
Take this with a white iPhone 4-sized grain of salt, of course.

i'd like to think that since they are taking that long to fix the issue with the color and light that they might as well try and make the antenna issue better too..so when they release it 'later this year' (around sept 30 maybe when the offer for free bumper expires?) it will be in a slightly better shape then the black one is now with receiving signals.

Look no matter what Apple does they will continue to dig their own grave. I mean it does have some great features but white or not the iPhone 4 has major design flaws. Design should never come before function and usability. Apple seems to have forgotten that.
I mean the iPhone 4 held the number one spot in the top ten ranking on pc world. Once Apple gave that press conference they took it down with out explanation. However, http://getyourgadgetsgoing.com/ took a look into it. The results are rather interesting.

If it's sunny in your room, and you want it dark, are you going to put up a black sheet or a white sheet? Think about things, please.
Just paint white, then black behind it, problem solved... I think it is something more than this issue.
Engadget got a hold of the white iPhone casings and built their own white iPhone. I don't remember them me rooming that it had issues with leaking light. I'll bet Steve is wishing they had never offered those white ones now, what ever the issue truly is.
All white iPhones have a light leak. If I look at the back of my white 3G at night I can easily see the innards of it.
We know the reason is because they are trying to fix that antenna issue. I mean think about it, The people that want the white one probably want it for the color/design. It might be ok to use a case on the black one to fix the problem but the odds are that people who want the white one probably don't want to have to have a case on it, even if it is only a side bumper. Even if you only used a ZAGG invisableShield that protector still changes how the surface of the device appears/feels.
Doesn't anyone else here realize it's actually being delayed because they relocated the foxconn workers? Remember when that happened?
The real problem which is so obvious is that Apple only brings out one phone yearly and this time it has been plagued with issues all around this launch. We all know that no phone is perfect nevertheless with the stronghold Apple has right now it definitely should have the least amount of mishaps.
