Fun In the Sun: iPhone Solar Powered Charger/Case

What we have here is a solar-powered iPhone case/charger, from Brando.com.hk, an Asian technology importer. And if you think about it, it's really not too shabby an idea.

The cost of this clever case is $48 and it is made of black leather, includes a 3.7-volt rechargeable battery, and a built-in photocell. Two versions are available, a flip-top and a side holster.

How long does it take to fully charge your iPhone? 12 hours in direct sunlight. While that is a long time in the sun, it's better than nothing if you are spending your day at the beach and need battery power. Or if you need some emergency juice, give it a few minutes and you'll have the battery power for a quick call.

If you try it out, let us know how you like it!

I've got similar thing from ebay 3 weeks ago. Piece of crap. Battery unusable, it can't even charge the phone.

This is a cool idea but I'm skeptical about how good it would actually work in a real world situation. Hopefully I'm wrong, because if I am, I'd probably buy one of these cases/chargers because I'm into the whole solar energy thing.

Femib says:

I think I'm going to buy that case. But their website is kind of confusing. How do you choose which style case you want? When you add it to your cart it just says "case". And is the side holster the type that clips on your belt?

Femib says:

Just ordered the case. I hope it actually works. Do they give refunds?

I got one of those from Solar Arcadia and is totally dead after the first charge. I’m trying to contact them with no success.

We were considering buying several solar power panels for our residence recently. The only challenge was the amount. The lowest priced system we identified was around ten thousand bucks. It could have taken us years to recover that amount of money. Anyway, we stumbled across these guidelines for making your own solar panel systems. We decided to have a shot at that route. It saved us quite a bit of dollars, and the free, environment friendly power is wonderful! :) We operate several of our appliances off of this grid.

It was great to see PBS cover what we are called to do as christians.Jesus told Peter in John 21:15-17 to feed His word to His new and established believers .He also says if he really loves him ,he will take care of His people. In Romans 12 it states we all have differant gifts .If we have the gift of caring for and feeding His lambs & sheep we get more out of it than the ones we serve. I am a Stephen Minister and thank you for helping us reach others.
