iPhone 5 available in 16, 32, and 64 GB capacities starting at 99, iPhone 4 & 4S prices dropped

Apple has just announced live that the iPhone 5 will be available for pre-order on September 14th, will come in black and white variants with pricing lining up with the expected $199, $299, and $399 respectively for 16, 32, and 64 GB capacities. The iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S have gotten significant price reductions as well.

If you're planning on picking up an iPhone, whether it be a new iPhone 5 or a discounted model, you'll have a wide variety of pricing points to choose from. While the iPhone 5 came in right where we expected, Apple will continue to produce an 8GB model iPhone 4 which will drop to free on contract. If you're interested in picking up an iPhone 4S on contract, you'll be able to snag the 16 GB version for a meer $99.

That's a nice line up, even the free one is a good phone.

If I upgraded to an iPhone 4 upon release, will I be eligible for an iPhone 5 at the $199 mark now? I'm on Rogers in Canada....

Its funny how Apple tries to keep so much of this secret when its really no news at all. With regards to the new phone the only thing exciting for me personally is the new camera setup.

Other then that ... meh.

The majority of people don't read tech sites like iMore. So to "normal" people, it's still news.

Well, on the good side they finally have LTE. Also the fit and finish appear to be awesome.

On the bad side they go to 4" but use a funky display sizing that effectively removes what should have been the point of going larger - make it WIDER.

Also, in typical fashion they are making preposterous statements about stuff the "innovated". Sorry but LTE on the chip is hardly an Apple innovation - Qualcomm has been doing it for a year now. Still one can choose to just ignore that stuff although it does speak to the poor attitude Apple has been showing since Steve Jobs passed away.

All in all it is a compelling piece of kit. It would be interesting to do a 3 way comparison (once all are out) between this, the Moto-Google RAZR HD Maxx and Nokia's Lumia 920.

I feel like this build up to and the final release of the iPhone 5 was like a scene from Iron Man 2. The part where war machine is going to blast the bad guy with the "ex -wife" and totally destroy him except the missile peters out like a bottle rocket and fizzles on the ground. Yeah. iPhone 5 is the ex wife.
