During today's Future Games Show, gameplay was shown for the upcoming Axiom Verge 2 game. According to game developer, Thomas Happ, the story mostly takes place before the events of the first game. However, you can play the games in either order.
Players take on the role of Indra, a mysterious billionaire who explores Antarctica only to find alternate Earth filled with ruins. As she keeps going it becomes apparent that there's a mystery to unravel. The story takes place in the same universe as the original game, but has players use different mechanics to make their way through. As such it should provide fans of the original game with familiar, but exciting new ways to play in this Metroidvania-style adventure.
Axiom Verge 2 is coming to Nintendo Switch and the Epic Games Store. No specific release date was given. However, the game will be coming sometime this Spring.
