iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS $50 off at Radio Shack

Radio Shack is offering $50 in savings on the purchase of a new iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS at their retail locations (i.e. offline only) until December 11. Better yet, if you have a good condition iPhone 3GS or iPhone 3G you want to trade in, they'll give you another $75 or $125 off respectively. Darren Murph of Engadget does the math on that:

you could walk in today, hand over your 3GS, and walk out with an iPhone 4 for $25 (plus activation fees)

Apparently they're eating the discount to gain some marketing attention for their wireless business. But chances are you don't care why -- they had you at cheap. Anyone taking them up on the offer?

  • That's pretty neat... Maybe well stop at the shack and get wifey an iPhone now...
  • Wow I might actually go upgrade my 3G now. Tempting to trade in my 3G for $75 but thinking I can make more on Ebay...
  • That is a good deal, but you can definitely get more for your old phone on ebay. I've sold all my old phones on ebay, and it makes the upgrade almost free because of how much I can make. It's probably even better this time of year!!
  • Hahaha can you say verizon is coming?
  • Just left RS and I had an Iphone 3G and just walked out with a Iphone 4 16 GB for $80.11
  • I'm on it!
  • This is a great deal. The iPhone 4 has major design problems. I wished I hadn't of upgraded. Both, the 3g and 3gs, are very solid phones. I wished I had never bought an iPhone 4.
Oh,'re an idiot. Have a nice day. :-)
  • Just left RS and for $100 left with a new iphone4 and ottercase. Furthermore no need to sell the old 3G on eBay and deal with idiots who can't speak English.
  • Sold my white 32GB 3G[S] for $372 on eBay.
  • I am not due for an upgrade until May. Can I still take advantage of this?
  • I was at the mall today and saw that. Also, it seems that you can get a further discount if you trade in an old iPhone 3G or 3GS.
  • NEVERMIND!! Had a little too much to drink, and I guess I didn't read the full post. Apparently, I just repeated it. Sorry. My bad. As you were.
  • Well, it's not "3GS/3G, $75/$125, respectively," it's "3GS/3G, $125/$75, respectively," and it only applies to customers new to AT&T or eligible for upgrade pricing, which is kind of an important factor completely unmentioned, but good recap otherwise.
  • Could this mean that we are going to get the infamous iPhone on Verzon and AT&T CMDA/GSM iPhone that looks like the curent iPhone but in White
  • The 3GS is worth about 310-350 on eBay and the 3G is worth about 150-200.
Can get the same on craigslist. The $50 off deal is great but sell your phone youdelf and put money in your pocket.
  • I did it and got an Iphone 4 16gb for $85 including tax...not bad
  • Yep... Sold my 3GS on craigslist. Posted and hopped in the shower and about 15 minutes later I had three calls sold for $300 might add it wasn't that pretty either. My ip4 has a case!!
  • Looks good to read, BUT I have 3GS since July '09, AND I think I'll wait till the next hardware version (5) is available - too many issues with the 4, even after six months!
  • That's the problem with people reading instead of buying. I've had 0 problems with my iPhone 4. My 3G[S] had the same signal drop when you hold the bottom corner of the phone. Its nothing new. And I've never dropped a call holding it like that.
  • Since the last time I bought an iPhone was 2008 and it was at an Apple store, can anyone tell me if I bought an iPhone 4 from Radioshack would I be able to go to Apple if something goes wrong with it? Will I still have Apple's warranty or would I have to go through radio shack?
  • Veronica, you can check upgrade eligibility right from your phone. Dial *639# and hit call it will send you a text message. Notice I said dial, not text.
  • I'd like to buy one for my husband - but would they'd have to activate it right away - right ? It wouldn't be a surprise then. I wanted to give it to him for christmas
  • I picked up a 32gb iPhone 4 tonight
  • Running out in most radioshacks hurry if you want this offer
  • Radioshack warranty is the same as the apple one
  • Thanks! I just ran out this morning and I'm currently syncing/restoring my new iPhone.
David is right, it's selling out everywhere. I got the last 32GB and they've had the 16GB sold out since Saturday. There were several customers calling while I was there seeing if there was any available since other stores were out, too.
    Thanks, TIPB! Best tip.
  • rs in fairfax, va is sold out. i picked up the last 3gs for my dad and correct you have to activate the phone with the account holder's information. i'm not sure it's possible to surprise the new owner with out asking for his/her account info. but cool none the less, thx!
