Pad & Quill Little Pocket Book for iPhone review

The Pad & Quill Little Pocket Book is a beautifully crafted wallet case for the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s. The luxurious top-grain leather on the outside, a hand-finished wooden cradle and room for your credit and ID cards, and cash, on the inside, and an elastic strap to keep it all closed. So how does it stack up?

You can get the Pad & Quill Little Pocket Book in your choice of mahogany brown exterior and deep sea blue or forest green interior, or onyx black exterior and deep sea blue, merlot red, french roast brown, plum purple, or slate gray interior. All of the combinations look great. You can also add up to 3 characters for a monogram if you want to make it even more personal.

The baltic birch cradle holds your iPhone snuggly and safely inside the Pad & Quill Little Pocket Book thanks to the Z Grabber grip corners and while wood might not be as crack-proof as plastic, it does look much nicer. There's also the trademark Pad & Quill bookmark to help removing your iPhone faster and easier.

There are three pockets on the inside of the Pad & Quill Little Pocket Book, including the window pocket. There's no hole or slide to make card removal easier but they're roomy enough that it's not a huge problem. You can fit some cash inside as well but you'll have to fold it if you don't want it mangled.

Once you've got the Pad & Quill Little Pocket Book all loaded up with your iPhone and credit and ID cards, the elastic strap lets you keep it closed in your pocket or purse, or open when you're actually using it as a phone. I love this feature. As with most elastic straps it will partially obstruct the iSight camera cutout when it's in place so make sure you move it well out of the way before snapping any pictures or recording any videos.

The Pad & Quill Little Pocket Book is another triumph of Minnesotan case crafting. There really isn't anything to match artisanal work where you just know a small team of people sweated every detail and cared deeply about each decision they made. The combination of the leather and wood of the case juxtaposed against the aluminum and glass of the iPhone is stunning. For anyone looking for the ultimate in old-world-meets-new fashion, look no further.

Highly recommended.
