WhatsApp gets 3D Touch peek and pop support

Popular messaging app WhatsApp has been updated, adding support for 3D Touch. While it doesn't support quick actions on the app icon like many other apps do, WhatsApp does allow you to peek and pop images, videos, links, and more.

This update also adds optimizations for languages read right to left on iOS 9. Check out everything new in the list below:

  • 3D Touch: Support for 3D Touch on iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. You can now quickly Peek and Pop pictures, videos, links, contact cards, and locations you send and receive in chats.
  • The WhatsApp interface is now mirrored and optimized for right-to-left languages like Arabic (iOS 9+).
  • Bug fixes

You can download WhatsApp 2.12.8 from the App Store right now.

  • I do see quick actions on the app icon, specifically "New Chat" and "Search"
  • I hope more 3D actions are in the works.
  • Can we use Quick reply? Please, confirm. Anyone Sent from the iMore App
  • Not yet :(
  • Quick Reply is on 9.1 Beta 5, it works for me!!
  • Still waiting for the Apple Watch app, I can't believe they have one for line, telegram, Facebook messenger, and no whatsapp which is he most popular
  • I know, right?
  • No Hangouts yet either. The two main ones I'm missing are Hangouts and WhatsApp. Only the WhatsApp developers would release an update for the iPhone 6S but completely forget about the Watch which has been out much much longer
  • For some reason I cannot share my apple music playlist or albums through the Whatsapp. App. When I hit the share feature on in Apple Music and hit the Whatsapp App, it sends a picture of the thumbnail instead of the link. The share feature works on some of my playlists but not all. I never use to have this issue before. Can you provide a fix?
