Before the Nintendo Switch was even a twinkle in the Japanese gaming giant's eye, it released the original Game & Watch handheld back in 1980 and the device was instrumental in the company finding new customers outside of its homeland.

The original device only offered one game and also served as a clock. Meanwhile, the newest Game & Watch Super Mario Bros. system features three games: Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, and Ball. The last of which is now themed around Mario himself.

The updated version also employs a modern and vibrant full-color LCD screen instead of the original's black on grey display. It also has a rechargeable battery this time, rather than disposable batteries, and powers up via USB-C. Because it is a Game & Watch, it still functions as a working clock with some sweet animated Mario-themed digital clock faces.

Of course, the Game & Watch is limited to the few games that are pre-installed and this mini gaming system certainly won't run the best Nintendo Switch games. That being said, it's super compact so can slip into your bag or pocket with ease making it a neat portable gaming choice not to mention being a perfect pickup up for the Nintendo collector or Super Mario fan in your life.
