Facebook 3.1.2 for iPhone Brings More Bug Fixes
Batten down your contacts and defend your profile pics, because Facebook 3.1.2 for iPhone and iPod touch is here and it purports to fix those bugs that have been ailing ya:
- Fixes some crashes
- Fix a bug causing incorrect matches in address book sync
- Fix a bug causing incorrect matches for contacts with the same name
Here's hoping that what has been, prior to 3.1, one of the best social networking apps on any platform, is back on track and ready rock.

So I think I have a good question... I used the sync feature when v3.1 rolled out, and it worked fine. Then 3.1.1 came out, now it's 3.1.2 - right? Right.
So my question is, is the app going to automatically correct any syncing errors the next time you launch it after installing v3.1.2? I haven't noticed any errors really, but I haven't looked at my ENTIRE contacts section. That would take way to long!
I wonder what Facebook's official stance on this would be.
Maybe I should just click to delete data and re-sync? I am just REALLY nervous to do so after hearing about the kinda nightmares other people have had.
Any advice commenters?
@Josh H.- give it a couple of hours and see what it says here and on the forums with what people have been dealing with.
My AppStore still shows 3.1.1 as current, but lists 3.1.2 when I browse to it... weird

man i would delete all data, delete the app, reinstall, then sync contacts. thats what i did and everything finally appears to be money.
WORKS!....some of my contact synched with odd pictures...one with a map other with a blank page...since update this had been fixed....COOOLIO!
I use the SmartSync apps for syncing profile pics. It works exactly hoe Facebook's official (3.1.1) version should've worked. I turned the Facebook image sync off, until it's been confirmed to work properly.
It still doesn't fix push. I am so ready to delete this it's pissing me off

i STILL cant upload some pics for some reason. uninstalling and moving to the mobile site for everything with Orbit for push updates.
The web site's acting up too. What a f**king mess!

3rd version of FB 3.1.2 and still no sound or vibration for alerts, way to pay attention to what the users are complaining about
HOLY CRAP!!! I JUST GOT A PUSH NOTIFICATION FOR A COMMENT ONE SOMEONE'S POST FROM THE FB APP!!
My facebook push has been working since 3.1 nicely... I get the push a lot quicker then the email notification...
Fixed all the stuff I care about and sounds like they're working on the stuff I'm not worried about.
Considering I pay nothing for the service or the app I gotta say I'm totally pleased.
Push works fine. Has for two iterations. Something's an effin' mess and it aint the app...
If you don't like push notifications just turn it off
This fixed none of my problems. Screenshots still don't upload, I have to shake to refresh ALL the TIME... Pic comments greyed out so you can't see them or comment on them. Push messages are rare or realllllly late, still silent. This app is a disaster now.
Anyone know how to stop iTunes from showing an update is available? I am happy with the old version and don't want to upgrade to get all these bugs.
I'm thinking the PNS isn't the app itself but probably a problem with Facebook's backend, like is the case with videos.

this appears to work, except when one of my friends changes their profile picture. when one of my friends change their picture, it never updates with my contacts. do i really have to keep deleting my data and re-syncing evertime i want things to be correct?
Can everyone take 30 seconds and "report a problem" in the App Store? I don't think the guys in charge of the App see these comments. This app is unusable for me now, with all these bugs.
So far so good... however I still don't really like the layout of the facebook app. I always thought they should have made it more similar to the website.

Facebook for iPhone is and always has been mediocre compared to the m.facebook.com site.
Why? Because the site is independent of what phone you are using, and therefore has a larger target audience, and more time spent in development.
I "updated" and according to my phone I still have 3.1.1 and now APP Store says no apps need updating! WTF?!?!
Same Issue, according to the settings/facebook, it show 3.1.1 however in app store, show that 3.1.2 is already installed.
Also, did we lost the full size pictures? I tought I had it before and not it's only a small small picture in the top right corner that shows.....???
Otherwise, Push and Contact seems to work fine for me...
Still doesn't properly refresh wall comments (shows as nothing new even after I get a push notice of a new comment. Still no sound or vibrate for notifications.
I bet the Android and webOS versions of FB work properly.
I ended up deleting the app and redownloading and I now have 3.1.2 and I lost pics in my contacts compared to 3.1.1. This app is a joke.
Check the version under settings. It still shows 3.1.1 lol

To avoid problems
This update did fix the contact uploading issues. What i had to do though is after updating, remove the app then re-install it. once i did that, everything was working fine. Now it only uploads the contacts that are on your facebook friends only.
Update: Mine shows V3.1.2 now (was still showing V3.1 upon update from V3.1.1) after deleting the app and re-installing it.
I'm scared to update mine app seems to be working fine for now! I had trouble on the last update but I'm getting push with sound and vib. I did delete the app then reinstalled then reset my network settings and that help alot got 35 notifications yesterday so try maybe it will help
My push notifications are working fine. Oh, right, that's because I'm using Boxcar with Facebook App 3.0.3. No problems. Depressing that a third-party developer can not only do it better (you get part of the comment/msg, not just "Bob commented"), but actually make it even WORK!
I've always had the impression (based on the website's annoying interface issues and how hard it is to find WHERE to change a particular setting) that Facebook's developers were not good at producing high-quality, well-designed software. The Facebook app's various bugs (including even the almost-never-works chat from when Joe Hewitt was developing it) back up that impression.
Yea, I feel you. Facebook "Chat" has never worked for me since the days of V3.0
v3.1.2 screwed things up for me... the app constantly freezes on me or will lag for several seconds to the point where I think it's crashed. v3.1.1 was fine for me, these issues started when I updated to the latest version.
My wife just noticed something interesting. If she uploads pics unprocessed it works, no problem. She likes to use this app called retro camera. If she tries to upload pics that have been processed/filtered thru that app it will not work.
The new updated 3.1.2 haven't fixed the problem that we wanted 1. Commenting on photo problem. 2. Mobile upload problem.( screen shot pics, pics sync from computer and pics saved from email couldn't upload ) Please let me know if you guys having same problem.
I can't update my status from the phone. When I push "SHARE" after writing an update, the FB app freezes, then crashes. I can make comments on things people have posted to my wall or the main page, but I can't update my status.
why are some of the pics small in the top right corner and some of them are big over the wallpaper?

Ever since the update to 3.1.1 & the update to 3.1.2, I have not been able to access "Groups". I have access to "Pages" but I used to be able to access my "Groups" and post comments on the "Groups" I belong to but ever since the update, I lost the access. Any suggestions? The only work-around is to use the mobile site... not even the "touch site" will give me access to "Groups". Any suggestions?
I cannot update my status! Do I need to re-download the app. This sucks!
I updated and as of 1/26 I can't access settings or any related apps/games. I've deleted, reloaded, checked cookies, cleared my cache, reset phone, yeah- everything. This blows. It all works on PC, but I'm never around that.

Ever since i updated i get loads of fb notifications from people who i have never heard of, have sent me mail or posted or commented. When i try to view or check messages there is nothing there! Any ideas please???

i couldn't post a status update w/o gettin on the mobile site until i deleted the app off the phone and synced it with my itunes. i checked the the box next to the facebook app on the applications sync page on itunes and now i can update statuses and there isn't a lag when i comment on ppl's pages. the only thing is i still can't upload screen shots or pics that weren't taken with the actual iphone cam....sux...c'mon iphone developers
I used to be able to upload pics taken with my camera phone all the time. Why can't I do it anymore? This has been going on for a couple months! WTH PEOPLE?!
Have there been any improvements to Facebook 3.1.2? When I last installed, and did a Sync, all sorts of problems started. Freezes, craches and that constant Loading... message. Has or will there be an update anytime soon to correct these and many other pboblems with the Facebook Software. This could be such an awesome piece of software if it woould just do what they said that it would. Come on Facebook... Get it togather!
