iTunes 9.2 feature: edit iOS 4 folders

iTunes 9.2 iOS folder management

iTunes 9.2, currently in beta on the Mac, will be required to install iOS 4 for iPhone and iPod touch when it becomes available on June 21, and here's likely one of the reasons why -- it can edit Folders.

We've go a complete walkthrough of iOS 4 features up, but if you're curious as to how it works in iTunes, the good news is -- pretty much as you'd expect. Click on a folder icon and the virtual screen opens up to show the contents, same as in iOS proper. Drag an app out to remove it, or in normal view, drag it over another app to create a folder or an existing folder to add it in. You can even rename the folder if the "intelligent naming" isn't quite intelligent enough.

An obvious addition to iTunes 9's app management repertoire but the obvious stuff doesn't always get done. Nice to see, in this case, it did.

A release version of iTunes 9.2 should proceed iOS 4's availability.

iTunes still needs a better way to organize your Apps in iTunes... or even hide. I don't really care to delete something I bought.

Ugh... I had more to say.

I'm also a heavy podcast listener, and rarely listen to music... and the Podcast section is also a mess. I would love to a way to organize the feeds into sections to easily find, edit and modify feeds... I would love to make a sports, tech, news "folders" for my podcast... maybe someday.

Did they in any way modify how to move apps around ? The way it's done still pushes apps around and messes up orders. I stopped using that feature in iTunes within the first week, it doesn't make organizing apps easier.

I run a 64-bit version of XP so it looks like I'll have to compile my own iTunes 9.2 installer or upgrade to winblows 7 :(

  7. Glenn says:

@JOOwOOt xp 32 bit should work. Can you download it?

  8. Farid Rahmi says:

    Works fine on Win7 64bit

OMFG...I am so MAD...I am sick and tired and they BETTER fix this crap...updating apps thru the app store app on the iPhone screws up the folders etc...

I just did an update of apps...and it erased every one of my folders and placed everything alphabetical...I am stark raving MAD...I spent HOURS organizing my APPS...and I am pissed

now everything I have done is gone...every app I have put where it belongs and labeled each folder...and I'm talking pages and pages of folders are gone...damn
