iOS 4.1 for iPhone, iPod touch next week, iOS 4.2 for iPad in November
As part of their special music event today, Steve Jobs announced iOS 4.1 for iPhone and iPod touch would be coming next week, and iOS 4.2 for iPad would be coming in November.
iOS 4.1 includes everything we've seen so far, including bug fixes for the proximity sensor, Bluetooth, iPhone 3G performance. It also adds HDR photos, HD YouTube uploads, TV rentals, and Game Center.
iOS 4.2 includes all of iOS 4.1 along with wireless printing and AirPlay, which replaces airtunes and adds streaming video and pictures.
Both will be free updates.

Nice update. Wireless printing for the iPhone too? And where's the white iPhone?
Why are they not updating the iPhone to 4.2 as well?
I'm pretty sure I heard Steve say 4.1 for iPhone/iPod Touch next week and 4.2 for iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch in November. Maybe it was one of his many blunders?
I'm gutted I just bought a HDR App. DAM!
November for iPad update?! Argh. Multitasking should be a big plus when it arrives, but uni-tasking more than two more months will be painful.
@sting7k - Yeah, I heard that same thing. Why are you assuming it was a blunder?
@Rene - Won't November see 4.2 coming to iPhones and iPod Touches as well as iPads?
