Jailbreak for iPad 2 and iOS 4.3 coming our way courtesy of Comex?

Jailbreak developer chpwn posted the photo above from his Twitter account, crediting comex. As you can see, the device is obviously the iPad 2. There's no question as to whether or not it's running iOS 4.3.

Developer i0n1c already has a working jailbreak for iOS 4.3 but is currently working out kernel issues before releasing it. Whether or not comex will release his version sooner isn't clear yet. It's also not clear whether this version of an iOS 4.3 jailbreak will also work on other devices such as the iPhone 4. We also aren't sure whether or not it's tethered or untethered. The big news is that it's apparently working on the iPad 2. (i0n1c's jailbreak will not work on the iPad 2.)

While all you new iPad 2 owners patiently wait your beloved jailbreak, make sure you check out our jailbreak starter's guide! How many of you out there plan on jailbreaking your iPad 2 the minute a jailbreak is released?

So I guess SHAtter still works?

    • Rick says:

From what MuscleNerd said on Twitter, no. This is something new. A few things SHAtter depended on no longer work on the ipad2.

  2. Anonymous says:

I am one of those that will definitely jailbreak the minute it's released. I'd like my shiny new iPad 2 to be liberated.

Also I read that comex had to find another exploit since SHAtter was patched.

I0nic never said he is waiting for 4.3.1 people made that up. Read the description of his video.

  4. Seth says:

    Hey Ally,

Can you give us your reasons and other reasons for JBing your iPad. We want to hear from the pro. :) Thx.

  5. Mike says:

I used to be jailbroken on my iPad 1st gen, but it became laggy and crashed a lot more so I revirginized. I don't think I'll be jailbreaking my iPad 2.

That said, I love my jailbroken iPod Touch 4G and I'll be rejailbreaking my AppleTV 2 soon (stupid update to 4.3 undid it)

  6. Tone1120 says:

Can wait for the jailbreak, love my ipad2 but really need the jailbreak

Interesting Very fine prudocts made with SATIVA, We can save so many trees by using Fiber from Hemp/Sativa rather than cutting down tree's .

  9. Macboy15 says:

Just to add if I did again it's good to have people like you helping us out and keeping us informed. Thanks

  10. Stephen says:

I tried to update to 4.2.1 Saturday, that didn't work. So for a day I was on 4.3 stock, truthfully it was painful. So I'm back running 4.1 for now. I've been jailbroken on my last 3 iOS devices. I will jailbreak 4.3 once it's untethered and the mobilesubstrate issue is resolved.

  11. Matt Hall says:

@Stephen if you have your blobs saved you can try this method if you want to go back to 4.2.1 it worked for me http://blog.merrycode.com/how-to-downgrade-ios-4-3-to-4-2-1-4-1-via-cydia-shsh/

    @dman

  12. Matt Hall says:

Sorry @dman he acted like he was at first but now he claims he wasn't saying it only that it prolly won't last long because of the exploit. I don't think apple is that concerned about an exploit that wouldn't actually work in the real world.

  13. Dan says:

What's that extra icon at the bottom of the cydia app?

  14. Ainiie says:

Ryan, very very nice rosepnse. i totally agree with you, with exception to the fact that there are iphone users here that seem to be satisfied with the experience, and if they are willing to spend for the 4G hotspot then for them it will make sense. But yes, buying it from the US is cheaper, not sure if you can get the 4G package without purchasing the handset from bmobile though.
