How to add multiple mail accounts to Gmail for iOS

If all your email accounts happen to be Gmail accounts, the Gmail app for iOS is a great alternative email client for your iPhone or iPad if you aren't happy with the native one. You can even add multiple Gmail accounts to the Gmail app.

Here's how:

  1. Launch the Gmail app from the Home screen of your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap on the menu button in the upper left hand corner of the screen.
  3. Next to your current account info, tap the arrow to collapse back to the main menu.
  4. Now tap on the plus sign in order to add a new account.
  5. Enter your Gmail account info and sign in.

That's all there is to it. You should now have both accounts linked to the Gmail app. Collapse and expand them like you did earlier to toggle between each one.

How to add multiple mail accounts to Gmail for iOS

Is it just me or is gmail much slower to notice emails since switching to the 3 inboxes? I find myself needing to refresh it pretty often to notice Social or Promotional emails. It usually finds the priority inbox stuff automatically but that's it.

Allyson, your last sentence references a unified inbox for the gmail ios app. how do you set that up. I could not find that option.

Eric

There is no unified inbox within the Gmail app -- and it is the reason I cannot use this app. Too cumbersome to be constantly bouncing between personal and work Gmail inboxes.

Sorry about the confusion on unified inbox. Evomail was updated to support that and my mind registered gmail. I got them confused. Updated the article. Thanks guys!
