GetGlue for iPad now lays out your TV schedule

GetGlue's entertainment check-in app for iPad has been dramatically revamped with a particular emphasis on scheduling. Now you can see when your favorite TV shows are on and when your sports team is playing in a simple calendar layout. As a second screen during your viewing, GetGlue for ipad is offering a bunch of contextual information from around the web, including trailers and links to Netflix, iTunes, and Amazon as appropriate. GetGlue is also trying harder than ever to be your guide in discovering new shows you might be interested in based on what you've been watching and what you like.

Budget airline using iPads to reduce aircraft's weight, fuel consumption and running costs

New budget airline Scoot Pte is now using iPads as its preferred choice of in-flight entertainment across its fleet. The move sees Scoot remove around two tons of old style audio video in-flight entertainment equipment from its aircraft and replace it with iPads. The change to iPads has enabled Scoot to shave up to seven percent off an average aircraft’s weight and add a further forty percent to the seating capacity. These savings reduce the aircraft's fuel consumption which obviously has a big cost saving.

Mercedes Benz to embrace the iPhone 4S and Siri in its new A-Class vehicles

Mercedes Benz has announced that its new A-Class range of cars will have a new infotainment system which will be centered on the iPhone 4S and Siri. The new system will be announced and demonstrated at the Geneva Motor Show; which takes place next month.

Qantas to test in-flight iPad entertainment system

Qantas has announced they will begin a trial run for an in-flight entertainment system centered around Apple's iPad tablet, initially limiting the test to a single Boeing 767-300 which allows streaming of music and video content to all of the aircraft's 254 seats.

In what it’s trumpeting as a ‘world first’, Qantas will next month begin trials of Apple’s iPad for in-flight entertainment, using wi-fi to stream content to the tablets from a central server on the aircraft.

Jetstar Airlines to offer in-flight iPads for AU$10

Jetstar Airlines are going to offer passengers in-flight iPads for AU$10 per flight from April, pending licensing agreements with Apple. We reported that Jetstar Airlines had a successful trial period for a iPad based in-flight entertainment system, last summer with the intent to launch before Christmas, so it's safe to say things went well.

The iPads will come preloaded with movies, music, magazines, books, and apps, replacing the current in-flight entertainment systems. The launch will start on Jetstar A320 flights, but marketing manager David May says:

Before you get excited, I realize that not all of you know what Sonos is. Sonos is a way to control all of the music in your home (including Internet radio such as Pandora and Last FM), room by room. 

Needless to say, the announcement from Sonos that you can now control all of this via your iPhone is really exciting! I personally don't use Sonos, but I have a friend that does, and he filled me on on the scoop...
