Apple has issued a fix for iOS 3.1.3 App Store download bug. The bug in question removed the ‘Download’ button altogether when users running the older firmware attempted to acquire apps from the App Store.

Since the App Store is essentially a native wrapper around a web-based interface, Apple is able to update it without having to push out a full version of the whole OS. That can lead to things breaking out of nowhere, but also getting fixed.

It’s good to know that Apple still has the backs of those running on firmware that’s now going on two years old.

Reports in Apple’s Support Community suggest some users running on older iOS 3.1.3 firmware are no longer able to download apps from the App Store after Apple pushed out an update on December 16th.

Specifically, when users jump into the App Store and try to download any app, the download button is completely missing altogether. Although fragmentation within Apple’s iOS ecosystem is extremely limited — at least compared to the closest competition with Google — some users are still running older iOS versions.

There’s currently no fix outside of upgrading to a newer version of iOS, but for some users with older devices that simply don’t support current iOS versions, this could become a serious problem. Hopefully Apple pushes out a fix soon.

Apple has just released software update 4.4.3 for the Apple TV 2. The update carries a new build number (9A4051) following the last update that hit in October.

Details of the update include added support for Netflix in Mexico as well as addressing an audio problem when playing sound through the optical port when your television set is turned off. The Apple TV Software Update 4.4.3 is available now through the ‘Update Software’ option under General Settings.

(And yes, they’re still confusingly referring to iOS Software 5.x as Apple TV version 4.x — can we stop that please?)

Boy Genius Report is hearing that Apple is planning to release iOS 4.3.2 for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad within the next two weeks.

We’ve just been told by one of our Apple ninjas that the company is working on another iOS 4.3.x release: iOS 4.3.2. It’s said to include a few enhancements, address security issues, and it will also fix several bugs that have affected users.

BGR has been accurate in the past when reporting on iOS software update releases, so the possibility of Apple dropping iOS 4.3.2 in the near future is very much alive. We’re not sure what enhancements they’ve been told of, but the update will hopefully address WiFi and camera issues in iOS 4.3.1 and we’re crossing our fingers that Apple doesn’t fix the untethered jailbreak recently released by the Dev-Team.

Are you looking forward to iOS 4.3.2? Let us know in the comments below!

iPhone users living in southern Australia were supposed to get an extra hour of sleep with the change to daylight savings on October 3, but didn’t because the alarms on their iPhones went off an hour early. Apple knows about the bug and it should be fixed in the next update.

This is a very strange glitch because the iPhone’s clock correctly updated with daylight savings, but the recurring alarm clock does not recognize the new time. However, a one-time alarm works just fine.

A representative from Apple Australia said that Apple is “aware of this issue and already developed a fix which will be available to customers in an upcoming software update.” I expect this update will arrive before daylight savings goes into effect in the US in a few weeks.

In the meantime, users report that the best solution at the moment is to either set a new alarm every day or set your recurring alarm for an hour later than you want it to go off.

Any of our Australian readers experience this annoying bug?

My Apple TV updated this morning, and Chad’s already thrown his old cable box out the window. Are you updating yet?
