Over the last week we've seen a couple amusing new commercials from Virgin Mobile (above) and Sprint (below) touting their unlimited data plans. Virgin goes so far as to suggest you arrange a "happy accident" for your old, non-iPhone. Sprint just wants you to "say no to sharing".

Sprint CEO says paying over $15 billion for the iPhone was money well spent

Sprint CEO Dan Hesse spoke with a group of reporters touring Sprint’s headquarters, and told them that the deal to get the iPhone on the Sprint network was too good to pass up; even though Sprint had to commit over $15 billion in purchases to Apple over the next four years. The news comes from a report by Ina Fried of All Things D.

Sprint drops the iPhone 4S price by $50 ahead of new iPhone announcement

Sprint is the first Carrier to start slashing prices of the current iPhone 4S after it reduced the price of the 16GB entry level model by $50 over the weekend. The iPhone 4S previously cost $199 with a two year plan with Sprint so this is a significant reduction.

FaceTime over cellular is possible under iOS 6, but will your carrier allow it?

At WWDC 2012, Apple SVP of iOS, Scott Forstall, announced one of the major new features of iOS 6 would be FaceTime over cellular. Introduced in iOS 4, FaceTime has been Wi-Fi only up until now, despite the widespread availability of 3G and 4G networks, and despite rival products like Skype having access to video of cellular for a long time now.

So the question becomes, will carriers allow it now?

Sprint set to offer a pay as you go iPhone through its Virgin Mobile brand

Sprint will announce this week that a pay as you go iPhone will be available on its Virgin Mobile brand starting from July 1st. Sprint will become the second US network to announce an iPhone without any contract following the announcement last week that Cricket Communications would also offer pre-paid iPhones starting on June 22nd. This new offering may go towards helping Sprint achieve its commitment to Apple to buy $15.5 billion iPhones over the next four years.

Boost Mobile rumored to offer pre-paid iPhone starting September

Boost Mobile has been rumored to start selling the iPhone as a pre-paid phone starting this September. This follows yesterday’s news that Cricket Communications were rolling out pre-paid iPhones starting later this month. Boost are rumored to be able to offer both the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S in early September; on its pre-paid tariffs.

Sprint CEO says they'll make money on the iPhone... in 2015

During their annual shareholders meeting, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse said they're very happy with the iPhone, but admitted that it won't be profitable for the company until 2015. Sounds crazy, but Hesse says they're taking the long view, since offering the iPhone will stem the exodus of users going to other carriers just to get their hands on Apple's smartphone.

iPhone tops yet another customer satisfaction survey

Just in case we needed any more convincing that people love their iPhones, the American Customer Satisfaction Index has found through recent surveys that Apple's smartphones are leaving customers the happiest. The iPhone scored 83 on their system, compared to to Nokia, LG and HTC who are all tied at 75.

Sprint CEO cuts his bonus by $3.5 million after shareholders complain about iPhone costs

According to P.T. Barnum, no one ever went broke overestimating the stupidity of the American public. Sprint CEO, Dan Hesse, however, is going to lose $3.5 million for underestimating the stupidity of his shareholders. This, after Sprint was rumored to have broken their piggy bank wide open by agreeing to buy 30.5 million iPhones from Apple for a whopping $15 billion over the next four years.
