Untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak confirmed
MuscleNerd from the iPhone Dev Team has confirmed via Twitter that he has managed to get an untethered jailbreak working for iOS 4.2.1 devices. Currently the only jailbreak available for iOS 4.2.1 involves tethering your device to a Mac or PC in the event that your device needs a reboot. This could be problematic if you are out and are away from your notebook or desktop machine.

In order to use this method, you must have had your SHSH blobs saved with Cydia or TinyUmbrella, as the exploit uses iOS 4.2 beta 3. No news on the release date of this yet, or Comex’s upcoming jailbreak, but we will let you know as soon as we find out.
The jailbreak will work with all iOS devices, the question is, do you want your 4.2.1 jailbreak right... or simply right now? Video after the break.

will this jailbreak work on devices that haven't been jailbroken before? I stupidly upgraded to 4.2.1 thinking that it would be ok, but i need to jailbreak immediatelty, does anyone know if this would be possible?
I biting that the iPod Tiuch ( my jailbreak toy of choice) suffer because the iPhone is on a different base-band.
John Anderson I would say no cause you have not saved your shsh blobs's with tiny unbrella cause it says you must have them.
What about iPad? It doesn't have 4.1
I want it right and will wait for any bugs to be worked out. It is not clear to me if this is expected to work on an iphone4.

I apologize for the delay in greenpois0n 4.2.1 support. Our current focus is on a permanent untether solution
It is still not a complete solution until you don't need the blobs. I'll keep waiting.
This will be my first jailbreak for my iPhone4. I did a test jailbreak with my old iPhone3. It only has wi-fi now, but I allowed to test the waters. I think I am going to like jailbreaking.
Now for the wait...
I did not save any of my SHAH blobs and I am currently on the Tethered JB and I hate it. I had it JailBroken at the 4.1 and was head over heels in love and now I'm heart broken when I updated and re-jailbroke with the Redsn0w. As it still is JailBroken it is NOT the same. Please let us know when it is don't right. Please!!!
