CleanMyMac 3 will clean your iTunes clutter, mail attachments, and more

CleanMyMac offers several options to clean old files off of your hard drive to free up space. Version 3 comes with more tools, and will now offer to clean both mail attachments, as well as iTunes items. As with the app's other tools, you can get specific about what items stay and what gets cleaned out. The app also has a new look for OS X Yosemite, including a translucent sidebar.

In addition to the new cleaning tools, CleanMyMac 3 comes with new utilities for maintenance. You can ask the app to run maintenance scripts, reindex Spotlight, or repair disk permissions. The app will also now help do things like delete web cookies from your browsers, or get rid of unwanted extensions.

CleanMyMac 3 is available from MacPaw as a free trial, after which it will cost $39.95 for a single license. CleanMyMac 2 customers will be able to upgrade to the new app at a 50% discount of $19.97 for a single license.

  • Blind buy!
  • Only $40? Wow...
  • Peter, Can you tell us what you think of Clean My Mac 3 ? Thanks
  • This is nothing but a thinly disguised ad for this questionable piece of software. Please, in the future, mark ads as ads.
  • Clean My Mac is far from a questionable piece of software. It's a great tool for cleaning up junk and unnecessary files that you likely don't even know get left behind or exist. Some folks like to live in a fantasy world and think just because you're using a Mac, things under the hood don't get messy like say Windows and how it just leaves a bunch of junk behind but that's simply not true. OSX is just as bad in some cases and having a reliable tool to not only clean it but show you that it does indeed exist is pretty great to have. I've used it on every MacBook I've owned. Are there alternatives out there? Sure is. But from my experience none work as well.
  • Couldn't agree more. I've used CleanMyMac all the way back to the original version and couldn't be happier. Being that this is a very popular and genuine product I don't see this as an ad anymore than any other app iMore writers write about when it updates.
  • I could have sworn that this app just pushed out an update a couple days ago ...Now they are doing CleanMyMac 3.?? :/
  • Releasing a new major release doesn't mean ending abruptly the support for the previous one. That's what serious software houses do. I do recommend the update though, it's easily worth 20 bucks for me.
  • One question I have is, why do you have Bartender but yet still have such a cluttered Menu Bar?
  • Thanks for the article, I just purchased it for 1/2 off :) Full license is now $19.97, upgrades from 2.xx is also 1/2 off as of right now.
