  • I bought a NAS (Synology) and kicked DropBox to the curb. Best move I've made in a long time tech-wise. Their software gives you even better sharing capabilities than DropBox.
  • Dropbox really went downhill, I remember getting an email about them downgrading something, I thought it was just for free users but the email stated it was for paid users too, LOL, imagine paying for something and then someone taking it away from you, that’s a surefire way to lose customers. Now you log into their site and get popups thrown in your face, and some weird homepage rather than just a display of your files. Their desktop application still downloads every single file to your computer, it was awful at my old company, downloading the files from their Dropbox took hours. I ended up using Transmit to browse Dropbox so I could choose when to download the files and not use up all my hard drive space
  • Oh dropbox... Where do I begin? I used to be in love with you. Two years ago I had a paid Dropbox subscription but then my family needs for more iCloud storage for all of our devices forced me to migrate to iCloud but still use the free version of Dropbox between me and my spouse who is also my coworker to collaborate. Then, I bought a new iPad a couple of months ago only to find out free users can't sync more than three devices. Thats fair so I was thinking about going back to a paid user but the other changes just don't make it worthwhile anymore. I already pay for G-Suite for my business email so I have moved to Google Drive. If iCloud file sharing works and works good then maybe I go all in it. We'll see!
  • Syncthing or BTSync do this free iirc. BTSync may charge a one time fee.
