How many Pokémon are in New Pokémon Snap?

Best answer: New Pokémon Snap will feature at least 200 different Pokémon. The game will highlight a range of different Pokémon from the original 151 to the current generation, and at least one legendary Pokémon.

Pokémon Galore

Pokémon fans rejoice! New Pokémon Snap has a lot of our favorite catchable creatures featured in this latest entry. While the original Pokémon Snap presented a mere 63 of the 151 original Pokémon, New Pokémon Snap will highlight at least 200, including some legendary Pokémon! That's a wee-bit more. However, at this time, only 84 have been confirmed from the released trailers, teasers, and promotional material.

As more about the game unfolds, and we get closer to the date, we can't wait to see which of our favorites will be included. While the hard number seems to rotate around 200, we hope there's room for more Pokémon in New Pokémon Snap in the future. Since New Pokémon Snap promises different Pokémon every time you load a level, and with all of the unlockable paths, areas, and variants on levels, who knows how many you might see? If that number goes up, we'll be sure to update you.

Pokémon in the future

While the starting number may be set around 200 Pokémon, there's no rule saying that's the hard-and-fast limit. There are 898 Pokémon, after all, which means there are plenty of opportunities to add more of our favorites. In fact, adding more in the future would make New Pokémon Snap even better than the original. It's possible that the developers may add DLC containing areas other than the Lental Region, and who says they can't provide regular updates with new paths to explore and, of course, Pokémon to photograph. It's a great way to keep the game alive and to bring players back again and again.

If they can do it for Pokémon Sword and Shield, why not New Pokémon Snap? Plus, it might be cool to incorporate seasonal changes as a variant if it isn't already included. Either way, we hope there's a plan for even more Pokémon in the future.
