Today Nintendo tweeted that soon Nintendo Switch Online memberships (opens in new tab) will be launching. Starting on September 18th, you'll be able to access the service, which is similar to Xbox Live (opens in new tab) or PlayStation Plus (opens in new tab).
Benefits will include online play for compatible games, 20 NES games with online play, save data cloud backups, and special members-only offers. More games will be rolled out with online compatibility, too. Currently compatible games include Splatoon 2 (opens in new tab), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (opens in new tab), and more.
More details will be coming during the September 13th Nintendo Direct, and you can look forward to a 7-day free trial once the service launches. You can also pre-order a membership here (opens in new tab). Read more about the service here.
