The Seidio DILEX case with kickstand for the iPhone 5c has a two-part construction design that helps protect against drops. It also doesn't add a huge amount of bulk which should appeal to anyone who still wants to fit their iPhone into their pocket.
For starters, the Seidio DILEX case retails for $29.95 in the iMore Store and comes in five different colors — black, white, blue, purple, and red. To put on the case you place your iPhone 5c in the softer inner shell and then place the harder outer shell over it. It's easy to get off and almost as easy to put on. My only concern is since the inner rubber shell is made of extremely soft silicon, it may stretch and lose its shape if the case is taken off and put back on too many times. Something to keep in mind.
The back of the DILEX case features a kickstand that lets you watch videos and prop up your iPhone 5c. It doesn't work in portrait mode though, only landscape. For many people this should be just fine considering the most common use of wanting to prop up the iPhone is to watch videos.
When it comes to design, I feel the DILEX case will hold up well against drops without adding very much bulk. I had no problem fitting my iPhone 5c into my front pockets with the case on. I tested it on tighter fitting jeans which means both guys and girls should be okay. It does however pick up some pocket lint due to the soft rubber interior.
The good
- Thinner than some protective cases which means it still fits into tighter pockets
- Kickstand lets you prop up your iPhone 5c while watching videos
- Slides in and out of pant pockets easily, doesn't get caught up
- Ports are easily accessible and buttons push down easily, very little resistance
The bad
- Occasionally picks up pocket lint due to the softer rubber interior, not terribly bad though
- Rubber is extremely flexible and may lose its shape over time if the case is taken off and put back on too many times
The bottom line
If you're looking for moderate protection that doesn't add a ton of bulk, the Seidio DILEX case for iPhone 5c is reasonable priced and well designed. Just be careful not to take it on and off too many times so the inside rubber shell doesn't stretch out.
