SwiftKey brings its popular Theme Store to the iPhone and iPad [Updated]

The SwiftKey theme store, long a fixture on Android, had made its way to the iOS version of the keyboard. The theme store, at present, has various themes that you can buy to customize your SwiftKey experience. Among the new looks introduced is the first animated theme for SwiftKey, Shooting Stars.

There are 12 new themes in total, including Shooting Stars. There are five new Nickle themes, variations on the existing Nickel Light and Nickel Dark themes. These new themes are Candy, Champagne, Dusk, Rose, and Watermelon. Six new Minimal themes are also available: Aqua, Blush Carbon Coal, Iceberg, and Juice. All of these are available for $0.99 each, while Shooting Stars is will cost $1.99.

This update also comes with a number of performance improvements that should reduce crashes. You can grab SwiftKey 1.3 from the App Store right now

Update: SwiftKey has let us know that they are experiencing technical difficulties with purchases at the moment, sending the following statement to iMore:

We're experiencing some technical issues with store purchase validation on iOS, but our team is working on a fix ASAP. We'd like to reassure customers that they will get the themes they have purchased once this issue is resolved.

  • I like it, hopefully it works better now. Sent from the iMore App
  • I love that they're getting the theme store finally. I'm just so bummed that they can't have the Siri microphone button. I use that for dictation all the time so I'm unable to use these keyboards.
  • Same here. Trying iOS again for the first time in about 18 months (coming from Android) and Swype and SwiftKey are way behind in functionality on iOS. I could care less about the themes, but not having a microphone for dictation is lame. Other settings include ability to pick predictions better and adding a number row at the top which is a huge timesaver.
  • I bought one, selected it from the app but still only see the default theme. What am I doing wrong? Sent from the iMore App
  • Did you tap the blue price?
  • Yeah I bought it. I can change to other themes but the one I bought won't work. I just saw a tweet from them and it's a known issue and they are working on a fix. Sent from the iMore App
  • I like the Nickel Rose theme. I'd like to see the animated Shooting Stars in action.
  • I'd like a "stop crashing all the time" theme, please.
  • +1 Sent from the iMore App
  • They quickly brought out a new update and its OK now Sent from the iMore App
  • Bugs are still there. Going into messages to type a message but no keyboard pops up. I have to close the app completely and restart, then it works....... until it doesn't.
  • Yeah, still a lot of issues. Mine is actually switching back to the ios keyboard more often now after the update. Needs to be reviewed again.
