Will there be cooking in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

Animal Crossing: New Horizons finally came through on its promise to include plenty of new features to really spice up the classic simulator formula with its latest huge update, cementing it as one of the great games on the Nintendo Switch. Players will have more customizable options than ever before, including the ability to get fancy in the kitchen. It was announced during the Oct. 15 Nintendo Direct that cooking is coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons!

This exciting mechanic could be a fun new way to collect recipes, try new dishes, and, of course, design the island to accommodate all those fancy new crops!

If you have enough Nook Miles, you can head over to the kiosk and purchase the new "Be a Chef! DIY Recipes+" to get a load of recipes to start your culinary journey. You can combine multiple ingredients like tomatoes, carrots, and wheat to create delectable dishes.

Like with the workbench, it appears that players need access to a stove to start cooking. With the proper ingredients and a killer recipe, you can serve up all kinds of meals, from minestrone to fish dinners. Maybe all those sea bass aren't so useless after all!

Once prepared, you can enjoy any delicious thing you whip up. While it isn't clear how many crops you can grow, there looks to be plenty of crops and recipes to get us started.

With all the excitement of cooking, you may want to whip up everything in the pantry. The trouble is, you only have so much storage space. Not to worry! The free update coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons also includes storage expansion of up to 5,000 items. So, cook away and without worry!
