Apple is hosting a #ShotOniPhone contest. If you win, Apple will showcase your work on billboards and at Apple Stores around the world.

From Apple:

Apple is kicking off 2019 by celebrating the most stunning photographs captured on iPhone, the world's most popular camera, by inviting iPhone users to submit their best shots.

From January 22 to February 7, Apple is looking for outstanding photographs for a Shot on iPhone Challenge. A panel of judges will review worldwide submissions and select 10 winning photos, to be announced in February. The winning photos will be featured on billboards in select cities, Apple retail stores and online.

iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR bring innovations to photography, from sophisticated portraits with an adjustable depth of field, to Smart HDR which leverages multiple technologies — like faster sensors, an enhanced ISP and advanced algorithms — to bring more highlight and shadow detail to photos.

Civilian judges include Austin Mann, who's done amazing iPhone camera reviews in the past. Also, some really great judges from inside Apple, including Phil Schiller, Kaiann Drance who leads iPhone marketing, Sebastien Marineau-Mes, the Software VP on camwera, and Jon McCormack, who runs the camera team.

Opinions vary, but for my money iPhone XS is still the best camera on any phone when it comes to just pulling it from your pocket, hitting the shutter, and getting whatever you want to remember preserved digitally. Some like the Pixel 3 better, but it can be painfully slow to launch, missing shots. Others like Samsung or Huawei more, but they can crush and boost parts of the images automatically that I'd rather have as options, not defaults.

But you don't need the latest or greatest iPhone anyway. But what really makes any camera the best is the eye and heart of the person using it. And, if that's you, share your #ShotOniPhone photos and best of luck to you!
