Nick Martin, you have no reason to be pissed. The 6GB data plan works no differently than any other regular data plan. It has the same rules as all other plans. Using SKYPE is a big non-no on MOST networks obviously, and that has nothing to do with your 6GB plan.

Furthermore, I'm sick of all the complaining about it not being as good as in the USA. Give me a break! On Fido/Rogers you can use the data for whatever you want mostly, including tethering laptops or switching phones. Down in the USA you have to pay between $50 and $60 for only 5GB of data with the same abilities. So, if you're on the Fidogers 6GB plan for $30, don't forget that you are getting MORE real data than the Americans for HALF the price.

I would rather have 6GB of real data for $30 instead of that garbage "unlimited on-phone only" data for $30 lol.

Now that the great 6GB promo price is gone, currently Fido/Rogers charges $80 for 5GB while AT&T charges $60 for 5GB, so yes it costs a little bit more here and there's some work to be done to bring us in line with the USA, but it's not THAT much different.

I'm with Fido and bought the original 6GB data plan for 30$. What pisses me off is all the imposed restrictions on what you can do that were never explained. Examples: not allowed to download large apps over the 3g network, skype over 3G not allowed...

I'm in the communications department at Rogers and can confirm that we are aware of this issue with the 6GB promotion. It was a technological malfunction that resulted in an error on less than 10 customer accounts. We take these things very seriously and we're working to fix it. We will, of course, continue to honour the 6GB promotion for those customers who signed up for it.

I don't know how true these allegations are. I signed up for the 6gb/$30 plan with my blackberry when it came out (Because I had just upgraded to a blackberry, the iPhone upgrade would have cost me a pretty penny). Fast forward to last week, when I finally upgraded to my iPhone. Nothing changed on my account, and I still have my 6gb plan as far as i know.

Still $30/6GB for both my 8 and 16gb. No alternation made. And if this is really true, lets just watch our statement and make a complaint. Don't have any problem with Rogers that they didn't fix. We're fortunate that we always end up talking to a good knowledgeable and Customer Service guy. Good Luck to all!!!

I'm with fido with the 60$ plan (data and phone)... i use my data a fair bit and having gone over the 500mb once. I do have a 16gb phone. Only thing I'm careful with my data is you tubing I don't normally do outside of wifi connections... I really am hoping for the day that bell and telus get into gsm as the phones do seem to be headed that way and there's been talk of them getting it. Maybe then things will get better up here for pricing.

I am on the iphone data value back, 30$ and 500mb is sufficient along with the call display and vm features.

If this happened to me I would be irate to say the least
