Quick App Update: BeejiveIM for iPhone Updated to v3.2
BeejiveIM [iTunes Link - $9.99] has always been one of TiPb's favorite IM clients and it continues to impress with the release of version 3.2. This application is arguably one of the finest IM clients currently available for the iPhone and iPod touch and with the following enhancements it's hard for anyone to dispute.
- Performance enhancements, faster startup time, especially with large number of chats open.
- Dynamic message loading for chats. By default, only the previous 50 messages (configurable) in a chat is loaded at startup, scroll up to load more.
- Groups button added to buddy list (as in contacts.app)
- Search moved to inside buddy list (as in contacts.app)
- Several bug fixes, including several Facebook sync crash problems.
- Several minor UI enhancements
If BeejiveIM is already in your arsonal of apps what are you waiting for, head to the App Store and update now. For those of you still shopping around for a more than decent IM client, BeejiveIM is top notch.
Let us know how it works for you!

Grrrreat !!!!
Brilliant timing as the last few updates were, to be polite, underwhelming. Startup times were so sluggish it ruined the ability to use as a replacement for quick texts rather then full on conversations. Impressed so far with this update but when do we get VOIP integretation!? Well done to the devs on a decent update
i noticed this update this morning and downloaded right away. beejive is by far the best im app for ipod/iphone that i have ever used. now with facebook crash fix, its just that much better.
Beejive is a great app. The official AIM app look like a piece of junk in comparison.
Does this support Tweeter?
I'm enjoying this update as well. Seems much more solid and responsive.
@vnes Not directly. But you can use a (free) service like http://tweet.im/ to accomplish that. Personally, with all the twitter push notification enabled apps, I'm not all that concerned with having twitter separate. In fact, the one /annoyance/ I felt using twitter via IM was that I couldn't tell the differenece between an IM or tweet when the notification sound played. I don't treat them with the same urgency, so this got really annoying for me.
Doesn't seem any faster to me. But the "dynamic message loading" is a nice improvement.
@bill- thank for the responds...
quick question, I use text free for my texting and never knew that you could sms with bee jive. with the text free the app states that you can text unlimited for one year with the purchase with that app. does anyone here use beejive as their texting utillty? just wonering if it works as good as the text free app. thanks in advance!
Yeah, works great, didn't recognize any performance enhancements, but well, ok. What would be very great and i even give the idea to the beejive team: The status has to change when i'm listen to music as "What I'm currently listen to". So my contacts could see the name of the song, i'm currently hearing. Would be great, but i'm not sure if there is an api for that. But would be great.
Love this app, it does everything it is suppose too... minor quirks are it doesn't update your MSN or facbook photo, or list that your are typing a msg..
Other than that the stability and startup time to features are AWESOME!...great job to the developers
Since upgrading to this new build, my new messages aren't moving to the top of the chats list. Anybody else notice this?
Although the performance improvements are minimal and not even noticeable in most cases, they are extremely helpful if you kept long chat histories. I've noticed a big change there. The method they use to load earlier messages is very nice, too.
I would get this for sure if it only supported Skype.
I’m impressed, I must say. Actually rarely do I encounter a weblog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me inform you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is excellent; the difficulty is one thing that not sufficient people are speaking intelligently about. I'm very completely happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.
