iOS 4.3 multitasking gestures hacked onto iPhone 3GS

YouTube user antoninygaard seems to have been able to go into iOS 4.3 beta and manually enable the multitasking gestures meant for iPad developer testing (as well as the mute/orientation lock toggle!) We heard Apple was testing them internally but he's got both running on his iPhone 3GS.

We already know Apple won't be giving them to end users for iPad much less iPhone any time soon but check out the video below and let us know what you think. Are the multitasking gestures usable on a screen that small?

Wait, there's a joke about Chad's enormous hands in there somewhere, isn't there? :p

I'd like the gestures on iPhone. I do think 4-5 fingers are too many on that size screen.

    Those fingernails!

  3. Vox says:

I'd prefer 3 fingers instead of 4...I have Chad-sized hands, so...on my iphone 4 fingers wouldn't fit the screen very well :)

  4. zero credibility says:

I think the slide gestures work fine but agree the 4 finger is a pinch on the 3.5 inch screen. They are needed tho. Getting bored of this double click malarky.

  5. Shrike says:

Hey, if it is just an option in the settings app, then the answer is easy. Just do it! (4/5 finger gestures for the aforementioned 3 operations). Apps that use the same gestures have to be redesigned, but that's probably only a few apps.

    Sometimes, choice is good.

  6. OmariJames says:

Still looks awkward and I dont want It on the iPhone

  7. carolinamic says:

I love the way that the Multi tasking bar came up in landscape mode at the bottom of the landscape screen. I think that should be implemented as well as the gestures in a two finger form and only as a option to the end user.

this would make an amazing jailbreak tweak!

  9. Tweger01 says:

This guy needs to cut his fingernails

  10. OutSpoken says:

Can't say I really like this idea of 4 finger swipe... looks very awkward, especially for a guy with larger hands.

Two finger, yeah I could deal with that..but anymore....hmm not so sure. Lets hope its a user option.
