App for That: How to sync lists between iPhone and Android

There are hundreds of thousands of iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad apps for just about everything -- so how come the one you need, the one you know just has to be there, is so hard to find? Enter TiPb's new weekly feature where staff and readers alike sort through the App Store and help you find just the right App for That. This week, Jeremy asks:

Is there an app that would allow me, an iPhone 4 user, and my wife, an Android user, to share a task list? Help!

To see our solution for Jeremy, follow along after the break!

Wunderlist [Free - iTunes link] is a task management app that syncs between iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, and Windows. Syncing is seamless and in the cloud. If you're concerned about security, Wunderlist has got you covered with SSL 128 bit encryption over HTTPS.

Once you sign up with a free account and download the apps onto your desired devices, you're ready to start sharing lists - and with push notifications, you'll never forget what you need to do.

Not only does Wunderlist have great functionality, but it looks good at the same time. You can even choose between different backgrounds to customize the app to fit your personality. Perhaps shopping is a chore, but you'll love crossing things off your Wunderlist!

Anyone else have any App for That suggestions for Jeremy? Let him -- and all of us -- know in the comments.

Google Tasks. I'd imagine it should be handled natively in Android, and there are lots of iOS apps for it. I use GoTasks.

I used to use Remember the Milk at my last job. There are apps for all major platforms and it's a really good service, but you need to have a premium account ($25/yr, I think) to use the mobile apps, which is kind of a dealbreaker.

Jeff Kiefer says:

Try Nozbe. Works great on all devices and is built around GTD system.

I switched from Remember the milk to Wunderlist a month ago and love it. Shocking that it's free and so, so useful.

Adam Hunter says:

Google Tasks is another one. There isn't a native Google Tasks app (not even for Android, unfortunately), but there are plenty of third-party apps on both platforms that support it (Astrid is the one I use on Android).
I just checked out Wunderlist for Android, and it doesn't have a widget. That's a deal-breaker for me. I like to have a widget on my main home screen so I always see my to-do list. Astrid has an awesome, simple widget.

thanks......looking for this for a long time to sync between iPhone and Android.

Jerome Saludo says:

I found Producteev works better than wunderlist specially syncing tasks between IOS and android....

Jeff Wible says:

Wunderlist looks great and has a simple UI, but the iPhone version has a glaring bug: any tasks added via the iPhone app will appear 2 or 3 times on the list. I'm hoping the developers will fix this soon, as it's still my favorite task management app by far.
