70 new emoji come to iOS 12.1

As previously announced on World Emoji Day back on July 17, Apple is bringing 70 new emoji to iOS 12.1 and the big news is — they're available in the new beta that started going out to developers today.

They'll hit public release sometime later this fall in a software update that's 100% free of charge (as all Apple updates are nowadays).

The new set of 70 emoji designs were created based on approved characters in Unicode 11.0, and include humans with more hair options, new smiley faces, new animals, and new foods. According to the company, there will even be new characters for sports and new symbols. Here's a list of the few emoji and emoji options teased in Apple's preview post:

  • Red hair
  • Curly hair
  • Gray hair
  • Bald
  • Cold face
  • Party face
  • Pleading face
  • Face with hearts
  • Infinity symbol
  • Superhero
  • Nazar amulet
  • Infinity symbol
  • Lettuce
  • Mango
  • Cupcake
  • Mooncake
  • Parrot
  • Lobster
  • Kangaroo
  • Peacock
  • Softball

If you're on the beta, let us know what you think of the 70 new emoji in iOS 12.1 beta. If you're not, will the new emoji get you to update faster? They seem to be the biggest driver in town!
