In Short

Apple hasn't updated the Apple TV — minor processor change aside — since the spring of 2012. That's an eternity in tech years, which has led to a lot of speculation about what's coming next. There are some obvious upgrades to be made, like Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11ac (or 802.11ad depending on the time frame!). But could it be 4K (UHD/2160p)? How about a hardware upgrade that could support an actual Apple TV SDK and apps — whether all apps or just games and entertainment channels? Could it include Siri for voice control and an intelligent iSight camera for Kinect-like motion control?

The possibilities could be endless, and we'll keep track of them all right here!
