How's your Retina iPad mini battery life?

The iPad mini with Retina Display has been available for a little while now, and so it's time to talk battery life. We've put it through its paces – thoroughly – and completed our full review, but battery life statistics are always much more detailed and accurate when they're crowd sourced. So, if you picked one up, how are you finding the battery life on your Retina iPad mini?

Would you like a colorful, plastic iPad c? [Poll]

Would you like a colorful, plastic iPad c?

Apple has had a mixed relationship in the past with colorful products, but so far the iPad hasn't been one of them. Meanwhile, Nokia has just dropped its first Windows 8.1 tablet, the Lumia 2520, and it's plastic, colorful and relatively well priced. Apple recently brought out a colorful, plastic device of its own, the iPhone 5c, so how would you like a similar tactic with the iPad? How about a plastic, colorful iPad c?

Should Apple make a 'dark theme' for iOS?

Back when iOS 7 was unveiled there was no shortage of opinions on its looks to be found around the internet. Some people liked the general look of it and some people felt it was is a bit too much. A mixed bag I guess you could say as was to be expected considering it was quite a turnaround difference from that of iOS 6. But at the time, no one had really gone hands-on with it or had the chance to give it some extended use.

With no new jailbreaks in a while, is anyone really missing them these days?

With each new iteration of iOS that gets released, there has almost always been the question of when a jailbreak will be available to cover it. For the past little while though, it seems as though that question has kind of died off much like how new jailbreak releases have themselves seemingly died off.

Do you see image retention on your Retina iPad mini? [Poll]

Do you see image retention on your Retina iPad mini?

Much has been said about the – still frankly pretty darn impressive – display on the Retina iPad mini. Narrow color gamuts are clear to see when you sit the mini next to the iPad Air but what about this image retention issue; are you seeing it on yours?

Are you an iPad photographer and proud of it? [Poll]

Are you an iPad photographer and proud of it?

It's a discussion we've had many, many times before; using your iPad – or any other tablet for that matter – as a camera. Some love it, some hate it, some ridicule it and others just don't care, but it's a subject most of us have an opinion on. We always say that the best camera you have is the one you have with you, and increasingly folks are carrying their iPads with them everywhere they go. So, are you an iPad photographer, and proud of it?

Should Apple pay even more attention to emerging markets?

While looking through the iMore Forums today I happened to come across a thread asking whether or not Apple can afford to to stay high-end only. While I don't necessarily agree with that specific comment about them only catering to high end, the conversation quickly changed to how Apple handles emerging markets.

Community update: Forums facelift, all-star volunteer teams, and more!

Greetings all! For those that don’t know me, I'm James Falconer, the Community Manager around here and all of Mobile Nations. I’m the guy that looks after our forums, newsletters, community events… and the list goes on :) I’m also fortunate to have the opportunity to work with our amazing volunteer teams on a daily basis. These folks are ‘the bees knees’ (as my grandma used to say), and we couldn’t do this without them.

At any rate, I’m going to be checking in with community updates from time to time, so let’s get this started, shall we?

What do you think is the next big thing in smartphones?

These days, smartphones are everywhere and seemingly everyone has one. Smartphones themselves have essentially become the norm and it's sort of rare to see someone with a non-smartphone in their hands and because of that, there's a lot of new ideas coming to light and new innovations being put to work. While not all of them will end up surviving the long term, it's a good thing that companies are pushing the limits and seeing what takes off for consumers.

Most recently, Apple unveiled their M7 coprocessor, 64-bit mobile processing and Fingerprint scanner and while fingerprint scanners have been tried before, coprocessors are becoming more common in mobile. While all of this is going on, other companies such as LG and Samsung are off doing their own thing and creating curved displays, Google is working some serious voice-activated features but after all that, what comes next?

How is the quality of your iPhone 5s low-light video?

How is the quality of your iPhone 5s low-light video?Since I've gotten my iPhone 5s, I haven't taken a ton of video, but I've switched to video mode enough to know that I feel as if video quality isn't so great. After asking around and performing a quick internet search, it appears that I'm not alone either. Some people seem to have the issue, while others don't. Here are some sample shots of what I'm experiencing with low-light video...
