Debug 43: Marco Arment on Overcast

Tumblr was cool when he helped program things, long before the hipsters invaded. After he left, I went back to WordPress.

I got to use the overcast.fm web app exactly once. I really appreciated the convenience it allowed me to listen in a browser when that made sense. But then I started to use the app like crazy, and when I got to about 120 podcasts it broke the web app. I miss it.

3 hours? I'm glad I paid the 5 bucks - something tells me the smart speed is going to come in handy here

I'd tell Marco to talk less and work more, but since he answered all my (a random schmuck customer) emails *and* addressed them in 1.0.1, I'd say he keeps on top of things. Must be all that coffee...

You guys should definitely get Jean-Louis Gassée if that's possible. The Apple years, head of Macintosh and the Newton project and all that, leaving to start Be and all the crazy stuff there, getting beat out for OSX by NeXT, stint at Palm, it'd be so good. So much history. Ddddooooooiiiiittttttttt. :D

Realllllly great episode.

Marco, I had respect for you as a dev already but you highlighted some empathy, as pointed out by Guy, that grew that respect for you as a person. #props

Best of luck.

only debug episode i've listened to was this one. it was "conversationally" too long by 2-3x. i listen to others that are nicely conversational and get to points in 45-60 minutes. to much blah, blah. also a peeve of sorts: macro made a point, hoping that at 99 cents, folks weren't wasting their money if they didn't use it. This is a similar point made by reviewers about say a $4.99 app - is it worth it, is it not. Jeez, it's the price of a latte which a bet that reviewer drank for breakfast.
