Google also now rumored to be working on an Android smart watch

There has been much speculation regarding the supposed Apple iWatch, but they aren’t the only ones said to be working on a smartwatch, with Samsung and now Google said to be putting effort behind such a device. A 2011 patent filing suggests that Google could be working on a smartwatch, in addition to their head-mounted Glass project.

Google has released a new ad for their Samsung-built Nexus 10 tablet called "New Baby". It shows the kind of deft polish and product packaging Google's able to put together now -- far, far better stuff than the off-key, borderline creepy ads of the past, and almost Apple-calibur in its quality and content. It's close to the early iPad 2 ads in feel -- very human, very resonant, and very experiential.

Google refreshes its mobile web user interface to look more like its Gmail iPhone app

Google has announced that it has refreshed the user experience for its mobile web access to Gmail, Calendar, Google+, Web and more. The refresh has come about because of the positive feedback it has received since launching a revamped Gmail iOS app back in December of last year.

Apple Maps surprisingly wins three way shootout against Waze and Google Maps

PC Magazine’s John C. Dvorak has tested three mapping applications available for iPhone and very surprisingly the much maligned Apple Maps came out on top in the tests. The testers were Leo Laporte from TWiT who was using the Waze app, John C. Dvorak who had Google Maps and finally Glenn Rubenstein who had Apple Maps. They each set off with several missions, one of which was to find Apple’s 1 Infinite Loop headquarters.

YouTube for iOS updated, can now send video to your TV or game console

YouTube for iOS has been updated, gaining the ability to send videos to your TV. Users can now pair their YouTube app on iPhone, iPad, or both with a Smart TV, Xbox 360, or Playstation 3, and the elect to play videos that they find through the iOS app on their television.

How to setup Google Gmail on your iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad

As of January 30, 2013, Google will no longer allow new iPhones, iPod touches, iPads, or other devices to be setup using Google Sync (their implementation of Microsoft's excellent ActiveSync protocol). While existing Google Sync setups will keep working, the next time you want to add Gmail to a device, you'll have to use something else -- namely Google's eccentric IMAP service, which works with Apple's Mail app and allows for a unifed inbox with other, non-Gmail accounts, and the Gmail app, which is excellent but is a silo unto itself.

With Google's latest generation of better designed iOS apps, including Google+, Gmail, YouTube, Google Search, Google Maps, Chrome, and more, the iPhone 5 is once again among the very best Google phones on the planet. iOS may not enjoy the deep integration into everything Google that Android does, but for most things, the overall performance of the iPhone, and the ability to use the best of Google alongside the best of Apple, all on one device, makes for an incredibly compelling experience.

And it's been a while since any Apple or Google user could attest to that with anything approaching conviction.

How to search Google, Yahoo!, Bing, and Wolfram|Alpha using Siri

If you need information, chances are Siri can help you find it. Apple currently enables Siri to search Google (or Yahoo! or Bing) for general information, and Wolfram|Alpha for computational knowledge. You can use Siri to find anything you would normally type into a web search box, only there's no typing needed. Just ask, and you'll get back everything from the latest celebrity gossip to the answers to that nagging math questions to a listing of the best free apps for your iPhone.
