Square launches worldwide support for its iPhone and iPad Register app

Square has expanded the reach of its Register software for the iPhone and iPad worldwide. It announced today that the app is now available "even in countries without integrated Square processing." It can now also accept payments from 130 different currencies.

Square Register updated with item libraries for iPhone, custom tipping, kitchen tickets, and more

Square Register for iPhone and iPad has just received an update that adds new features to both iPhone and iPad. For the iPhone, you can finally view your item libraries which means no more having to key in manual amounts. On the iPad you'll now have the ability to create kitchen tickets to keep your line of customers moving faster as well as the ability to pair your Bluetooth barcode scanner.

Square apps updated to support Passbook and gift cards

Square has just updated all their apps to add support for gift cards. It also doesn't stop there, the gift cards will also be Passbook compatible. The Square Wallet app will now allow you to create and receive gift cards at your favorite places locally while the Square Register app has received an update to allow merchants to redeem gift cards through the service.

Square now offering flat monthly fee option instead of pay per swipe only

If you're a small business and you use Square to take payments on your iPhone or iPad, you now have a new option to pay a flat $275 a month as opposed to being charge 2.75% per swipe. Depending on how many credit card sales you process a month, it may be a better deal.

Pay with Square and Square Register have both received updates that give merchants the opportunity to better connect with and reward their customers. Pay with Square now allows customers to keep track of virtual punch cards at their favorite merchants. Square Register for iPad has been updated with the ability to give discounts as well as a few minor interface enhancements.
