Apple passes Motorola to become third largest mobile manufacturer in U.S.

comScore's recent survey data reveals that Apple now has 13.5% of the U.S. mobile market (i.e. not just smartphones). Combined with Motorola's drop to 12.8% market share, that puts iPhone in third place behind LG (with 19.4%) and Samsung (25.6%).

Survey says 34% American high school students use iPhone, 40% expecting to buy one

Analyst firm Piper Jaffray recently revealed data from their survey of 5,600 U.S. high school students, which included an impressive 34% adoption rate for the iPhone. Another 34% owned a tablet, and of them 70% were using an iPad.

Steve Jobs put an end to the Newton project, in part because he hated the concept of using a stylus. The original Palm Pilot was a runaway hit -- in part because of the use of the stylus and its handwriting recognition. Now, Palm is dead and Apple is ginormous and Samsung is trying to bring the stylus back with the Galaxy Note line... So, who was right?

Just as the iPad is reaching the stratosphere in usage, the stylus is making a comeback.

Nielsen has wrapped up their latest market research data, and in the three months leading up to February, 43% of U.S. smartphone buyers got an iPhone. By comparison, 48% had bought an Android phone, and 5% picked up a BlackBerry.
