Everything you need to know about the Verizon iPhone

Verizon finally got the iPhone in January 2011. It was the iPhone 4, and Tim Cook was on hand to make the announcement. Not only was it the first time the iPhone was on a second carrier in the U.S., it was also the first time the iPhone went CDMA/EVDO for data. Since then Verizon has gotten every new iPhone the moment it was released, including the iPhone 4s, iPhone 5 — which finally brought LTE to the carrier — and, currently, the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s. When and if a iPhone 6 is announced in the fall of 2014, you can bet Verizon will get that as well!

The Incipio Feather Case for iPhone 5s is exactly what the name implies — an iPhone 5s case that's as light and easy as a feather. It has a snug fit and no bezel on the size, but it's quick to put on and take off. It's even got a cute little kickstand, and comes in a multitude of colors! Check out the video above for my hands-on and then let me know what you think!

A tale of two bigger iPhones

One of the more popular rumors making the rounds right now is that Apple will release not one but two new, bigger iPhones this year. The first would be the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and the second, a 5.5-inch Apple "phablet". These rumors aren't coming from overly sensational, overly outlandish sources, but from mainstream news outlets and some of the more reserved financial analysts. Even so, information gleaned from supply chain sources, many of whom are working on a wide array of products and prototypes from a range of vendors, this far in advance, is likely only slightly more reliable than a roll of the polyhedral dice. But beyond the rumors, what could all this mean?

Verizon to give discounts to customers with off-contract phones

Verizon is finally going to give you a discount for off-contract phones. Starting April 17th, customers of Big Red are going to be able to bring their own off-contract devices onto shared MORE Everything plans at a discount. No longer will they have to pay a subsidy fee for a subsidy they're not using. Plans at or under 8GB will see a smartphone add-on reduction of $10 (bringing the fee to $30/month), while those with data allotments of 10GB or higher will see their fee sliced from $40 down to $25 per smartphone.

Verizon giving 1GB of free data along with new LTE iPad activations

Turns out T-Mobile isn't the only carrier with some tablet data incentives this week, as Verizon has just posted its own promotion for some "free" data. While it doesn't approach T-Mobile's offering of a completely free 200MB for the lifetime of your device, Verizon is giving customers who activate a tablet on one of its "More Everything" plans an additional 1GB of data.

What's a 'carrier update' for iPhone or iPad and why do we get them?

If you've had an iPhone or cellular capable iPad for an extended period of time, you've undoubtedly received a notification about a carrier update. Some are mandatory and don't give you an option to say no or remind me later. Others just hang out and bug you occasionally until you actually perform the update. One of the biggest questions we get asked here at iMore by you, our readers, is what exactly is a carrier update and what does it actually contain?

WWDC 2014 wallpapers for iPhone and iPad

You know the drill. Apple has announced WWDC 2014 and that means there's new artwork to go along with it. This year it's a classic rainbow of app icon shapes whose negative space reveals the distinctive top of the Apple logo. We'll leave it to others to engage in the usual Apple-mancy, to read the artwork Apple leaves and try to determine if it means color displays on iWatch, icon scaling for a big screen iPhone 6, a new palette for iOS 8 or OS X 10.10 Syrah or — my personal choice — just a high-impact look by Apple's typically excellent graphic design team. But what's really important for now, some two months out, is... wallpapers!

Grab the iPad version up top, the iPhone version below, and rock your 6 colors from now until Keynote day!
