  • Both features are available now for its Fire TV models from Toshiba and Insignia.

Apple has made another move to bring AirPlay and HomeKit to even more smart televisions.

In a blog post, Amazon announced that AirPlay 2 and HomeKit is now available on Toshiba and Insignia 4K UHD Smart Fire TV models from 2020. The company said that the features are available now as a free software update for the following two models:

  • Toshiba 4K UHD Smart Fire TV with Dolby Vision (2020 model)
  • Insignia 4K UHD Smart Fire TV (2020 model)

Starting today, Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support is available on the 2020 Toshiba and Insignia 4K UHD Smart Fire TVs. AirPlay lets you effortlessly stream, share and control content directly from your iPhone, iPad and Mac right to your Fire TV. Show photos directly from your camera roll, mirror the screen of your iPhone or iPad, or listen to Apple Music, podcasts and other music services on your Fire TV.

The company has been continuously rolling out AirPlay and HomeKit to more and more smart televisions over the years. AirPlay 2 allows users to stream content from their iPhone, iPad, and Mac to the Apple TV. Using the feature, you can stream music, movies, television shows, photos, and more.

Having HomeKit on the television is also handy as it will allow you to control your smart home devices directly on your TV. You can also monitor things like a smart security camera.

In addition to AirPlay 2 and HomeKit coming to more smart televisions, you can also hook up an Apple TV to any television to get access to both features. If you want to figure out which Apple TV is best for you, check out our list of the Best Apple TV 2021.
