The App Store five years later: 50 billion apps and over 575 million registered iTunes accounts

The App Store will celebrate its fifth birthday this year and Tim Cook has just announced some pretty amazing numbers from WWDC 2013. Not only did Apple recently surpass 50 billion app downloads, they've also paid developers a staggering $10 billion, with $5 billion of that being this year alone.

When it comes to consumers with registered Apple IDs, there's now over 575 million registered accounts. Those accounts are downloading from a total of 900,000 available apps. And 93% of those apps are downloaded each month. 375,000 of these apps are also designed for iPad.

This all equates to App Store revenue that's adds up to more than 3 times of any other platform combined.
