Does the August Smart Lock Pro work with Alexa?

It really is smart

The August Smart Lock Pro is one of the best smart locks you can buy for your home. It has some of the best features you would want in a smart lock and it works with the locks you already have. You can install it to the back of your locks without having to remove the front of them and it connects over your Wi-Fi so you can access it from anywhere. For those times when you're having a guest over or someone else is coming by the house, you can also grant guest access to visitors without having to reset the lock every time.

The smartest part of the whole lock is the fact that you can control it without having to touch it. Thanks to that Wi-Fi connectivity, you can use Alexa to have full control. Once connected to Alexa via a Connect Wi-Fi Bridge (or another smart home hub) you too can have your own personal Jarvis (well, almost).

How do I set it up?

August makes it extremely easy to connect your lock to Alexa. Once you have installed your lock, plug in your Connect Wi-Fi Bridge, open the Alexa app, and enable the August Smart Home skill. In an added bit of awesomeness, you can also have your August Doorbell Cam sync up to Alexa if you have one.

It still needs a brain

While the August Smart Lock Pro is extremely capable in its own right, it can't connect to Wi-Fi on its own. In order to unleash its full potential, it needs to be connected to a Smart Hub. A Smart Hub is essentially the brain that connects all the smart gadgets in your home together and allows them to talk to your smartphone and to each other. Without this Hub, Wi-Fi connectivity between connected devices would not work.

Thankfully August has you covered. With its Connect Wi-Fi Bridge, you can quickly and easily get everything up and running and connected to Alexa. It costs an extra $70, but you'll get a lot of added features, so it's definitely worth the price.
