Google brings smarter voice search to the iPhone and iPad

Google's search app for iPhone and iPad has received an update, making its voice search more intelligent than ever. Now, when you say "Ok Google" while on a web page in the app, you'll now receive smart answers about what's on the page.

Google for iPhone and iPad will now also deliver better local results. You can check out all of the new features in the list below:

  • Say "Ok Google" and ask a question while on any web page to get smart answers about what you are looking at. Try saying "Ok Google, where was he born" while reading an article about William Shakespeare
  • More detailed local search results
  • Copy and paste from anywhere in the app

You can grab the latest Google update from the App Store right now.

  • So....this isn't systemwide? Only in the Google app. And only from a webpage in the Google app. So if you start in the Google app and stay there it's ok. They should combine chrome with the Google app then to be truly useful. Sent from the iMore App
  • How will this compare to the 'smarter searches' of IOS 9? It sounded similar at first read.
  • The Goog can only do as much as IOS allows. And there is no way a IOS is allowing system wide "OK" Google Sent from the iMore App
  • Is this Google talk better than Siri?
  • My question as well.
As I am switching from WP to iPhone, I wanted to know how do they compare.
I loved Cortana in WP, so I am looking forward to knowing Siri... :-)
