Capcom has done really well for itself recently with the incredibly successful launch of Monster Hunter Rise. Anyone looking to add more monster hunting goodness to their life will be happy to know that Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will be coming to Switch on July 9, 2021.
Unlike the mainline Monster Hunter games, Stories focuses on well... a story. Instead of hunting, players hatch monsters from eggs and ride them into RPG-style combat. You'll need to learn every monster's strengths and weaknesses to master the battle system. We wouldn't be surprised if this becomes one of the best Nintendo Switch games to play!
Monster Hunter Stories 2 amiibo
In a recent Monster Hunter Digital Event, Capcom announced that three new amiibo would be releasing for Monster Hunter Stories 2:
- Ena amiibo
- Razewing Ratha amiibo
- Tsukino amiibo
Scanning these cool figures will unlock in-game goodies. However, they currently aren't available for pre-order. We'll update when that changes.
Additionally, six Monster Hunter Stories amiibo released for the original 3DS game. We assume players will be able to scan these for rewards in the sequel. However, they have become some of the most rare and expensive amiibo out there. So, if you want them, you'll likely need to purchase them second-hand for a lot of money.
- Dan's Qurupeco
- Rathian and Cheval
- One-Eyed Rathalos and Rider (Boy)
- One-Eyed Rathalos and Rider (Girl)
- Barioth (Glacier) and Ayuria
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin preorders
In many ways, Monster Hunter Stories is like How to Train Your Dragon. You play as a Monster Rider, a member of a secret group who prefers to defend and work with monsters rather than kill them. Using a Kinship Stone, you can bond with your monsters after hatching them from eggs.
Anyone who purchases a Monster Hunter Stories 2 preorder will unlock a downloadable Maiden Outfit for Ena. Players can order the Standard Edition with just the base game for $60. There's also a Deluxe Edition and a Collector's Edition for $70 and $100 respectively.
How to Train Your Monstie
Raise monsters from eggs
As a monster rider, you are out to gather and raise monsters rather than hunt them down. Rathalos have mysteriously started disappearing from around the world and Edna, a young Wyverian, seeks your help in figuring out why.
