iPhone Protest Smash Puny Rogers! $30 for 6GB Special Promo!

I shouldn't blog this. It'll only make the lines longer. But, dagnabit, it's just too... well... not unlimited good... but better and somewhat less cr@ppy!

Effective July 11, and as a limited time promotional offer for customers who activate by August 31 on a three year contract, a data-only offering of 6GB of data for $30 per month is being made available that can be added to any in-market voice plan. For example, with 6GB of data, iPhone 3G users can visit 35,952 web pages, or send and receive 157,286 emails, or watch 6,292 minutes of YouTube videos each and every month.

It's a start!

(And yup, looks like Rogers' Fido brand is following suit!)

Now, I'm in Montreal... Where do I line up?!?!

  • Rogers/Fido have shown great initiative by making the plans more appealing...it is a start on their end and people should be encourgaed by this development...That said, the rates should start at lower end such as $10/2GB, $20/4GB, $30/6GB and so on...that should make it more affordable for people who cannot afford plans starting at $30 (or do not need 6GB data) while still giving them reasonable amount of data use...nonetheless, good response by Rogers/Fido...
  • Those crazy canadians really know how to protest! First they show the NHL they don't need them, now Roger's must bow to thier citizen power!
Either way they are still getting screwed.
  • I feel bad for canadians. They get ignored as a market for new products, and they are a little ways down there on the list of vacation spots too. But still, there's something about Canada that I like...
  • Well, they found my price... lol!
I will be buying one now!
  • As far as I know, the AT&T data plans down south are soft-capped at 5gb. The price might be a little high, but this promo is much better than the previous alternatives.
  • I think you'll be flooded with new iPhone users who been on WM and been waiting on the Exchange ActiveSync, so primarily I'd like to see Tips & Tricks, but the Apps will be new to all, and there will be so many that some vetting of them would be helpful as well.
Two more days until I drop my WMExperts RSS subscription... :)
  • Man... 6GB. I barely hit the 100mB mark and I'm still having to pay $30. AT&T=ripoff. I'll be more than happy to pay $10-15 for under 1GB of bandwidth. More than enough.
  • Rogers has givin me the 6gb plan for 30$ and I use half, but the added protection helps and teather away til dec31st, it's free of extra charges until Rogers gets ahold of teathering and it's uses, and what it intails. Fact is the customer service is very prone to fail, I've had4600$ charged and credited due to hardware and false charges or a rep f@cked up in one year, but fact also has it that Rogers provides the best and latest hardware, network and capacity in Canada. So learn urself some barganing skills and manage the contract you signed, but just so you know......my iphone3gs is amazing! And who cares what Americans pay, this phone and my usage is worth every Canadian cent!
  • Hey - whats up. Thanks for the info. I've been digging around for info, but there is so much out there. Yahoo lead me here - good for you i guess! Keep up the great information. I will be coming back in a few days to see if there is updated posts.
