The iPhone SE Plus is the last iPhone Apple needs to add to its lineup

Earlier today, YouTuber theHacker34 released a concept of an iPhone SE Plus, the basic iPhone with a big screen that we most likely will never see.

However, while we most likely will not see this phone come to fruition, as rumors of its existence have died off. Despite that, I'd like to make the argument that the iPhone SE Plus is the last iPhone needed to round out Apple's iPhone lineup and its lack of existence is a major miss for the company.

So, what role would a basic iPhone with a big screen play for Apple and consumers? What I already said — it's a basic iPhone with a big screen. There are a lot of people who don't need the latest and greatest from Apple but still want an iPhone with a larger screen than what is currently offered with the iPhone SE.

The company, of course, does launch a "regular" iPhone and Pro iPhone every year now, but even the regular iPhone starts at $699. With the release of the new iPhone SE at $399, Apple is well-positioned to offer a big iPhone that doesn't cross that $500 price point.

Unfortunately, the latest generation of iPhones just doesn't offer people a basic iPhone with a big screen. The iPhone SE has a screen size of 4.7-inches that is perfect for those who want a basic and small iPhone. However, for those who want the same specs except for a display bump, your only option is to get an older iPhone like the iPhone XR for $499.

Theoretically, that would be the cost of an iPhone SE Plus since the iPhone SE is currently $399. While the iPhone XR is still around to fill that space with its 6.1-inch display, that phone was released back in 2018. Apple packed the new iPhone SE with its latest processor, a huge upgrade for those who wanted a basic iPhone that could last. While the company does support its devices longer than most, forcing consumers to buy a three-year-old iPhone just to up their screen size doesn't cut it.

If we ever wonder whether offering the same device with a bigger screen is good for consumers and Apple, we only need to look at the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The iPhone 6 Plus was an iPhone 6 with a bigger screen and it was an enormous hit with consumers. If Apple could bring that offering to the iPhone SE, it would satisfy the needs of iPhone customers who want a big iPhone that lasts but don't want a big price.
